and Smallville is in Kansas, why does it always seem like the two cities are just a few miles away with the way not just Clark but other characters get to and from there?

I think some continuities do actually put it in Kansas, the prime example being Smallville (the show).

For Superman at least, it would not take long to fly from New York state, to Kansas. He is pretty fast

Wasnt that just a Smallville show thing? Metropolis is in Delaware (with Gotham across the bay in New Jersey), and Smallville is in the Great Plains.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

And honestly, I think the far, far weirder thing is that Snyder decided Gotham and Metropolis were fucking neighbors separated only by a bay.

What kind of dumbass goddamn decision

He wasnt the one to come up with that. Metropolis, Delaware, and Gotham City, New Jersey has been established in several comics.

If it was just Clark, it would make sense but even Lois Lane drives there and back all the time.

It's weird how DC has both fictional and real cities.

Why not just stick with fictional? Probably due to some unimaginative writer from years ago.

Fictional cities were their thing until relatively recently. Guess with the recent heroes they wanted to be more relatable or something.

I think the origin of the fictional cities is in the early days of comics, nobody was trying very hard to have a single cohesive world. Even when all the characters were owned by the company that later named itself DC

But the various heroes all had an iconic traditional made up city and later on they didn't want to give that up. So they kept cities like Gotham, Metropolis and Central City around. But then every once in a while they wanted to mention a real city. And it became canon that both exist. Also, I think its canon that the DC Earth is larger than our Earth. To fit in all the extra cities
