Might just be as a poundmate.. but that means there will probably be a sub mission where we get to see her again and finally get another scene between her and Kiryu

i'd advise against watching the story trailer.

I really need to finish LaD. I've been sitting at the final tower for months now, stalling actually completing it.

Also, stoked that it is still being released on the PS4.

Ichiban voice: Hell Yeah

Okay now that I've slept, what do we got:

What we know about the story (spoiler tagged):

Ichiban is going to Hawaii because there's a possibility his mother is there. He runs afoul of a taxi driver who scams him and leaves him naked on the beach, but ends up befriending him, because he's Ichiban. He's a new party member, as is Chitose, someone who claims to have worked as Ichiban's mother's housekeeper. Jo Sawashiro is "back" in a capacity.

Kiryu has that "yakuza cancer" that's going around. He's just ultimately trying to do right by everyone in his life until the end. The "Jimas" are present and supporting him, but we basically see them at something that's like a cabin in the mountains? Kiryu's involved because apparently the Daidoji faction is also seeking out Ichiban's mom for reasons.

There's a bunch of rough dudes, and probably lots of fights I'd guess.

Danny Trejo is in the game as "Dwight" some kind of criminal rough dude.

What we know about the gameplay:

It's RPG style as with Y:LAD.

• You can now move around a little bit in a circle before launching your attack, as opposed to the last game where you just kind of walked around randomly.
• There's at least one selectable attack where you take control of the character to make it action gameplay. (Kiryu can do this)
• Apart from real-life person Eri Kamataki, all party members from Y:LAD are returning. Also Seonhee (Seong-hui) is a party member now.
• New jobs include but are not limited to: Boys - Samurai, Desperado, Pyrodancer, Action Star, Sujimancer, Linebacker (DLC). Girls - Housekeeper, Kunoichi, Geodancer, Tennis Player (DLC)
• New Poundmates include Yuki/Koyuki, Kazuki/Yuya, Akiyama, Date, Sayama

What we know about Minigames:

• Crazy Delivery - Basically Can Quest as a base but combined with BMX stunts and the idea is being a DoorDash service.
• Sujimon Battles - Literally take bad guys and fight them against each other. It's flipping Pokemon baby.
• Miss Match - Dating minigame that involves text prompts like Live Chat from 6.
• Something involving sharks and octopi? I don't fucking know.
• At least six new Karaoke songs
• SEGA Bass Fishing and SpikeOut: Digital Battle Online new classic SEGA games.
• Old minigames include: Can Quest, Shogi, Mahjong, Oicho-kabu, Koi-koi, Blackjack, Poker, Batting Center, Golf, Darts, Vocational School Tests, UFO Catcher, Virtua Fighter

I've been on Yakuza 3 for like a year. I need to make beating that my next goal after I finish FF14. >_>

Ichiban, can quest, turn based combat awesomeness . . . I can't wait!! The only game I'm looking forward to more would be Dragon's Dogma 2. This is going to a blast!

I love these games but my GOD do they churn them out in record time. Im honestly starting to get fatigued.

We got last year's summit and people were like "OMG three games in a year!?" and I'm like "no of course not that'd be dumb" and NOW WHO LOOKS DUMB IT'S ME because we have three games in the span of twelve months.

unless they got more remakes/remasters in the pipeline, not really imo. last full game release was in 2021 aside from ishin, and two short side story dlcs. it'll be 3 years between big game releases, 4 since y7.

So I guess they're gonna do a redo with Kiryu's send off with this game then?

Looks like.

I've said before the best ending for Kiryu would be him being able to live out the rest of his days with his family without a threat hanging over him. I feel Ichiban is the one who can give that to him, and it would be the greatest gift.

I would like that but who knows if he'll get that.

I wonder if they'll let use control Kiryu in the overworld too, or if it's only Ichiban

I'm honestly impressed how fast they release them. Maybe it's just Sega seeing the dollar signs and having multiple teams working on the game. I just hope the developers aren't suffering because of it.

They're all asset reuse heavy, but the audience for these games keeps growing with like every new game.

looks incredible. Ive only got like 6 more yakuza games to beat before i can play it! Not to mention all the other fantastic game that have come out in the last year

Yeah I'm fairly confident Gaiden is not that big. A lot of minigames are repeats or updates, the only really new thing is the Arena.

So I appreciate everyone's concern, but Cyric will be okay.

All I know is I saw a screenshot depicting a boss battle with a gigantic shark.

If THAT alone doesn't sell you on this game, nothing will. Also, looks like we're getting Virtua fighter 3 this time out (in its Team Battle variant.) I'm all for more Model 3 goodness; here's hoping we can get The Ocean Hunter in a future installment.

Ugh need to catch up. Finally finished Yakuza 0, on Kiwami now lol.

Loved the Judgement games more than 0, though, personally. I hope there's a Judgement 3 someday or Yagami and gang crossover with Yakuza.

So much hype. Absolutely love Ichiban. Glad that they're improving on the turn based. Such a great system for Ichiban

For those of you unaware, this has become the moniker to refer to Majima, Saejima, and (Daigo) Dojima, who are clearly joined at the hip these days.

The name changed in JP too.

But it's weird because in JP it used to be "Dojima no Ryu" and now it's "Oryu" (great dragon).

I honestly don't know what led to the selection, apart from parity with Gaiden calling the styles "Yakuza" and "Agent".

I heard they got a new director for localizing or something starting with Ishin remake. Could it be because of that?

For some reason, I thought Infinite Wealth was just the title of that one trailer a while back. I thought this one was just going to be called LAD 8. But I can see why they'd do the subtitle instead of causing confusion. Also, didn't realize the game was this close! Super excited. Day 1 purchase.

I wonder how they're gonna finagle Yakuza 9's title in the US lol
