The Brooklyn team stopped using the term in the second half of the game after Beachwood threatened to pull its players from the field, according to a statement from Beachwood Schools Superintendent Robert Hardis.

At first I just thought they had a play called "Nazi" in the playbook, which would have been bad enough.

But it appears they were deliberately yelling "Nazi" out loud to make the play, on top of the slurs the players were yelling.

As someone from the area, I'm not surprised by this in Brooklyn. It's a near suburb of Cleveland full of people that pretend to be tough inner city folks, but shit their pants if they have to talk to a person of color.

It may be surprising to outsiders that this is a very blue voting area in Ohio. This isn't farm country. It's shitty suburbanites.

I thought that originally too, or that it was some play that when the routes were run looked like a swastika.

Not that they were literally yelling "Nazi" and other racial slurs.

The football team should be barred from play until every student involved has graduated tbh

The statements did not mention disciplinary action toward the players involved.

Suspension, minimum, with no play time during the duration.

If the state high school athletic association is worth its salt, every player who did that would be banned from playing for the remainder of the academic year. Since the coach participated, the same association would be within its rights to ban all of that school's sports programs led by that coach from participating in sanctioned activities for the remainder of the academic year.

All racism is bad obviously but I personally haven't even heard much negative sterotype about them. Closest things I can think of is they are good with money and they control hollywood. Which that just boils down to jealousy

Meanwhile other races get stereotypes like they are criminals or whatever. Which sadly I know people are dumb enough to believe stereotypes equals the majority in reality so I hate it but understand how they are brainwashed into the hate.

A lot of it stems back to Christianity's early days. Many blamed Jews for Christ's crucifixion. Even after, they were a minority religion in a predominately Christian Europe in a time where conformity to the Christian Church was expected. They were also seen as usurers and accused of blood libel. In more modern times fascists used them as scapegoats and white supremacists have carried such rhetoric ever since. Add all of that up and you've got yourself roughly 2000 years of antisemitism.

I have relatives there and some shit legit has to be seen to be believed. I was at a wake where a couple guys yelled racial slurs at people coming from church.

Martin Luther didn't help. Unlike some who started anti-Semitic and became tolerant and understanding. He started tolerant and understanding and became anti-Semitic.

Ohio (not unlike Texas) has big blue areas but most of the smaller towns are red. When I lived in Ohio I lived in it for around 25 years in a small, barely above 10k people city. I admittedly don't remember 2016 that well but in 2020 it was very, very deep on the Trump pill. And most of those Trump 2020 signs got replaced with Trump 2024 ones after the Capitol riot.

So this sucks, but unfortunately is not terribly surprising. It's a southern state that happens to be in the north.
