I don't mean "It's sad when love disappears and families break up". I mean "If you can't prove you're being beaten daily, then you better suck it up and stay married for the rest of your life!"

It's fucking insane and evil and it's a growing thing amongst a certain political party in America. It's indefensible to be against divorce on a legal level.

Is it growing? Religious conservatives have been anti no fault divorce for awhile now

Getting divorced was one of the best things that happened to me

It's pretty sickening and also knowingly anti-woman to demand that couples have to stay married because them breaking up offends YOU

No one should be forced to stay in a marriage if they don't want to be in it. No-fault divorce should remain an option in all states, so no one feels the need to create a "fault" just so they can get out.

That being said... it's fucking bull shit that at-fault divorce has been removed as an option in many states (17 + D.C., apparently), the only form of divorce allowed is no-fault.
At-fault should also always be an option. Someone should not be rewarded with cash and prizes for cheating on or abusing their partner, just b/c they earned less.

that's one of those dumb things upheld by tradition.

there are a number of valid reasons to divorce someone, including just not wanting to be married to them anymore.

It has always been there but now it's become a sort of mainstream talking point when it didn't used to be.

Normal person: What about that person over there who got divorced 6 times?
Fundie: Hmmmmm, you're right. Ban divorces too.
