There was a small earthquake off the east coast of Florida the other day. Did not expect that.

Yeah, I'm in Los Angeles. I was talking to my boss when the earthquake hit. We weren't near a desk to duck and cover, but thankfully it was short and not too strong.

A 4.7, centered near Malibu apparently

Even in fucking Kentucky. I think we got a really weak one in the early 90's.

We get the occasional 1.0 or so in NJ but they're unfeelable. Except in 2011 when that one in Virginia happened, but I was in a moving car and didn't feel it.

I know Ohio had one a couple years ago too.

Yeah, most of the strong quakes we've had in the last 30 years haven't had their epicenter near LA, so it hasn't been as noticeable. There have been several that have surpassed a 6.0 magnitude though. The biggest one was the one that hit Mexico in 2010. It was a 7.2 at the epicenter and was felt all the way up to Central California and Southern Nevada.
