Some AI have gotten better at hands but things like text and textures can still throw them for a loop.

the fingies, unless they're tactically hidden. but often this uncanny sheen or "perfect" look that it always churns out. besides that, background elements and minor details are often kind of smudgy and blended

I only see two nice buns

Fucked up fingers and text, and a general too-smooth cartoony vibe is what I usually look for

Peculiar clipping of clothes is another giveaway.
Coloring of hair. An example is one part of the hair could be a lighter shade with no shadows present.
Nonsensical features in the background. Items that should be connected to something else are just floating.

Hands aren't the giveaway they were before

One useful bit of info is that there are currently no people created by AI, only pictures and fake internet profiles. So far AI has tragically failed to replicate human bodies for infiltration of meatspace.

more seriously, any answer to this question is going to be obsolete in six months. Good luck living in the dystopian future.

AI images look like they have some weird filter on them.

Look for details that are easily fixable by human eyes like details blending into each other or suddenly patterns just end for no reason

Fractal nipples.

Backgrounds are the easy ones to get AI art on. People doing AI art tend to focus on the characters so anything that is problematic in the background will not be caught. At this point it's basically hard baked in due to just how little care people had for it in AI generation's infancy.

If they're a famous person with tattoos the AI will usually fuck their tattoos up because that's just too detailed for it to handle. If they have a really big tattoo, it might get that one right or get it close, but the others will be off.

Even if they're not famous, gibberish tattoos might give it away... most folks wouldn't get a tattoo of just random letters that spell nothing.

I wish I could share some of these pictures I found that look really good, but their quality would decrease if I posted them here and they're NSFW so I can't share a link, either.

Yeah I meant more fake Internet profiles. There was one notorious red head chick making several OF profiles and people were heavily on her AI bullshittery

I think these are the most reliable ways nowadays

hands are not a good option since AI has gotten a lot better at hands, many actual humans are bad at hands, and if the person does any manual touchup on the AI art it's likely they'd start there.

I don't think backgrounds are super reliable either since many human artists are lazy about backgrounds as well, especially in single character pin-up style art. If the background is complex and has a bunch of weird bits that can be a sign, but if the background is just very simplistic/plain compared to the subject then it could just as easily be a human who is not interested in drawing backgrounds

Hands are obvious, but also feet for similar reasons.

if this is supposed to look "really good," i can tell you the moon surface is immediately fucked up, the second bunny ear doesn't have the same pink inside as the first, the reflection in the water is randomly cut off on the left side, the tower steeple in the background is sprouting random parts that make no sense, the middle finger has an extra joint, and of course, the whole thing is covered in that fake "AI-perfect" glaze

The water is also in the foreground. She is standing in said water in some kind of really weird raised canal or aquaduct, in which there is a random wooden thing next to her that doesn't look like it would have any sort of function in such a place.

lol, that's true, i didn't think about that. the background is up high, with a bridge and towers, but she's in a canal, or maybe standing on a dock, or jetty? who knows. it's up to us to come up with explanations because AI art is random tripe

You've got good eyes for those details. Are you an artist? But this was one of the most SFW I could find that wasn't as bad as the other picture I posted. At a quick glance, most people probably wouldn't notice that it was AI generated.

I definitely think people would. There are a lot of other mistakes, such as her having two hip-bones on the right side of her body, to the point that I feel like it is hard for someone to not catch on at least a couple of them. And that's ignoring the whole "uncanny valley" effect due to the really bad lighting.

not a good one, but that's why i know if a good artist is going to include these elements in their work, they make sure it's at least consistent, like the ears/reflection, or they take a less-is-more approach and avoid complex details entirely. which hands are full of, for instance

Perspective also works and helps a lot, especially if they are trying to pass it off as a real picture of someone, unless they post a close-up pic, then it doesn't help as much

Throw in that weird light reflection of a tower itself in the lower left.
