Pretty fucking hyped for now. This year is insane for jrpg.

Eiyuden, SMT V vengeance, trails trough daybreak, ys 10, some other smaller one too

No hype. Only because I barely followed any of the journey. I love Suikoden so it should be freaking awesome, right? But I am just like oh yeah that's finally coming out this month. I'll probably get that. It's not like I was apart of the kickstarter or anything. Yeah I never played SMT V but I just got P3:Reload on sale. While I have a lot of time my focus and motivation can waver. I still have all the games here and there I play that nobody knows.

I think it looks pretty great. Only suikoden I ever played was the original. But I always loved it

All I know is there is a playable lich and I feel like I need that kind of energy in my life.

I'll be hyped for it when Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster get a release date.

I played and beat all the mainline Suikodens. I got the best ending in, well wait, I never finished Suikoden V ever. I still have it on the PS2 though a physical copy. I got the best ending in the four previous. I also played/tried that weird time travel PSP side story that got a fan translation. Anyhow.this game can't be worse than good?

Hopefully it's good. Waiting for some reviews because i have some reservations about "old ex-'game' devs teaming up again to make the good ol games of yore". Sometimes they miss more rather than hit.

But everything i have looked at for eiyuden looks great.

Fair, and handful of backers have played the beta and reception was positive. I am mostly optimistic but trying to keep hype level normal

Its the first Kickstarter I ever backed. Though I doubt Ill play it at launch because:

1. I dont have time to play most games more than once, so I always use a walkthrough if there are any missables.
2. Im basically positive this game will have missables, and maybe the worst sort, like the Clive events in Suikoden 2 which are playtime based.

Sometimes I wanna play again but then I remember some party members it feels like you have to go out of your way too much.

That final Clive event is the only really problematic thing I remember. It was basically like Excalibur 2 in FFIX.

This is such a minor nothing spoiler so I am just going to post this but there is a character in Suikoden V who talks.....very....slowly.....

So if you don't let him finish he just screams and you can't recruit him again till a later date? Suikoden V has tons of bullshit recruitable stuff. It makes Suikoden IV seem like a fantastic game (I think it's fine) but IV is generally the black sheep of the series.

The character actually reacts if you skip his dialogue? That sounds kinda funny. But I get why people would hate it

Yeah also there is this detective agency in V too I believe if you don't realize what you can do there in a precise way you won't ever recruit all 108 characters. That is moderately early in the game too iirc Those aren't the reasons why I stopped playing the game. I beat Suikoden 1 and 2 blind before and went back and did better. It's just I don't know why I never finished V. I finished IV for some dumbfuck reason after playing V. I think IV is actually kinda neat but the sailing sections omg the sailing is horrible.

No one really does care about this game here.

I don't know why. Isnt CE big on JRPGs? Maybe they just haven't heard about it. It might not be as well known as the latest Final Fantasy.

I love JRPGs but I am sick of these western devs making these "chrono trigger inspired" kickstarter games so while I don't think this one is made by western devs it does tick the "old game inspired" and "kickstarter" boxes I try to avoid. I will still try it thougg because at least it ain't goddamn chrono trigger it was "inspired by".

It isn't Western. It is indeed made by not only Japanese, but I think the very same people who made the old Suikoden games. I think the main series creator worked on it just before dying

I'll wait until the reviews. I love Suikoden, but spiritual successors have completely dropped the ball numerous times.

I see I am Setsuna still rubs ppl the wrong way to 21. Also what Zikten said. I really have no monetary or emotional attachment to this but it should be good, I guess.

If you haven't seen it yet, there's a trailer that shows a bunch of different characters, and I'm thrilled that there are so many non-human options, though like you say, I'm praying that they aren't just filler that'll never see the light of play.

I loved Suikoden, but I lost interest in this when I saw one of them was a sidescroller.

I like sidescrollers, but it just doesn't work for me with this.

Ye, I'd seen that one. I just didn't realize there was a lich amongst the crowd of known characters.

And the whole "are filler" bit hits way too hard after recently (ish) playing through V. Like, I get that not everyone can be equal when you have roughly 70-80 playable characters, but geez does it feel bad to have the various Pretty Boy squads continue to be the best thing you can be doing in every game (they may have skipped on the actual attack in III/IV, but it wasn't like they didn't have direct comparables + it wasn't the attack itself that made you use Alen + Flik in I/Futch + Luc in II/etc.). By comparison you have overtly non-joke characters (who I'm at least willing to give a pass as "being a joke" and "not being good" are understandable) who are just flat out awful when compared to the baseline of the rest of the cast.

I actually haven't played the companion game. And don't know much of anything about it. Just that its not an rpg. I don't know how integral it is to the rpg story. But I'm guessing you can skip it and be fine

Yes. It is about the formation of a village that will be in the main game.

Played the backer beta and still do on and off. It's Suikoden through and through, though it isn't much to play. That little snip of the game is pretty dang great.
