Somehow we talked about slavery and he kept bringing up stupid reasons for it to still exist. I'm kinda pissed but at the same time I didn't yell at him I'm just kinda in shock at some of the things he said. In 2019 people think it's ok to say that slavery should still exist and that we should treat people like farm animals. It's really disgusting. He's not even a "boomer" he's in his late 40s. Dear fucking god that was an awkward talk and I feel disgusted.

I mean my great grandma was also pretty racist so I guess that's where he got it from but holy shit. Everyone should be treated fairly and equally, and have every opportunity they can to do what other's want. Only on actions should we judge, not based off race, gender or sexual orientation. This actually has to be said, in 2019.

That was actually an argument he used and just because it happens in other third world countries doesn't make it right.

He also said something about it gave slaves food and shelter...even though most of them got beaten and starved by absolutely disgusting fucking people. They didn't get payed and they didn't have freedom to do what they want, they were literally forced to work in the hot sun with layers of clothes on. Not really sure how that was a hard concept for him to understand. Slavery is obviously wrong.

Few places. John Oliver is the one I remember most. But I've heard it from a few places that all sync up. I think Netflix has a documentary about it that I watched most of. As soon as slavery ended they used that loophole to get a lot of black people back into the system through prison. Giving them larger sentences over small shit. Not to mention just cause black people were free didn't mean they weren't blackballed from a lot of jobs, forcing them to resort to illegal activity to not watch their family around them suffer.
