If you could only give the crown to ONE GAME in your ENTIRE LIFE (it can be released before you were born, though), what would it be?

I think my answer would be: Skies of Arcadia. It's just the perfect most epic game to me. The exploration, the visuals, the story, the music. The sense of adventure and loss, and hope. And ship fighting when you get the royal flagship Delphinus. Fuck yes?

-------
Doom 64
StarCraft 1 (That story writing alone puts SC among the legends. Too bad SC2's story was hilariously bad.)
Anything from Half-Life / Portal series
would all be fighting for second place. If I had to pick only one, though, it would be Skies.

Probably Doom/Doom II (I consider them one game since Doom II is basically just an updated version of Doom). Granted, probably not the perfect game engine for an FPS since it is technically 2.5D (since two objects can't exist in the same space on top of each other), but it is probably the perfect FPS. Labyrinthine, never repetitive, perfect balance of weapons, perfect balance of monsters, everything just works out perfectly.

I still have the Dreamcast game in my backlog, lol. Haven't played it yet.

Anyways, I will say Persona 3 because I was in high school when it came out back in 07 and it helped with the real high school BS I was going through.

I have that one in my backlog as well. I actually played Human Revolution though and loved the hell out of it. I started Mankind Divided and just kinda stopped for some reason.

I'm not quite sure. The best games are the ones played with your friends sitting in front of the same TV.
I miss those good old days playing fun multiplayer games such as Smash Bros or Mario Kart or other Nintendo games with my friends.

Halo 3 is probably my most cherished game though.

@Dikitain Oh, brother. You're talking to someone who spent 6 years making a custom Doom II level set / campaign. lmao. I love Doom/Doom II, I know that engine inside and out by now. You're right, the automap (tab) is actually the map itself that is being read by the game. The different geometric sectors and lines have data like "floor height" "light level" "wall texture" "switch activate tag: (variable)" etc. and the game engine runs from that information. John Carmack is seriously a genius, if you've ever read his development logs or journals about his contributions in the creation of 3D gaming and PC image rendering, from Commander Keen (which started as a Mario 3 DOS clone, but Nintendo said they weren't really interested in the PC market so they rejected the idea) all the way to true 3D polygons in Quake etc.

Doom 64 accomplished room over room "3D" by a visual trick involving silent teleporters and sector floor/ceiling heights, similar to the way Duke Nukem 3D did, if I recall correctly. That was why cooperative and deathmatch had to be scrapped from Doom 64, because there would be really weird bugs and glitches if someone went over a "3D Bridge" and the other player didn't. This problem didn't happen in Duke Nukem 3D because you actually (silently) teleported to a different room entirely when you were "upstairs", it wasn't a visual change of sector data.

How do you feel about civ 6? I personally love it, it is a little simple on the tech tree, but I am sure the expansions will add to it. Rise and fall looks really promising.

Mine would definitely be Skyrim.
I have a level 70 Khajiit named Cheetah the Impaler and we go on quests with Cicero and generally explore.
I trust her to do what I need her to do and I understand how alchemy works, so I create potions to take adventuring.
There is so much to do and so many areas I still haven't explored.
She's in charge of the guilds all over Skyrim and runs around in Daedric Armor and a tiara.
