Don't let this score fool you. The movie (from a critical perspective somewhat) is a borderline good film, but I didn't really get into it. The whole film just felt too gritty and depressing for me. Certainly a good example of a cult film.

My wife and I both enjoyed this, though I admit I was a bit perplexed at the behavior (i.e. immaturity/naivete) of the photographer dude in the "relationship." I'm willing to believe that everything happened as filmed and nothing was staged, but that means he was not only incredibly dumb and immature for someone his age, but that his previous experience with women was virtually nil.

And he's an attractive, moderately successful photographer living in New York City who makes a living taking pictures of attractive dancers. In the word of Amy Poehler - really? o_O

Anyone else see this? Any thoughts?

It's a loving homage to Lovecraft, filmed as a silent, B&W short. Only 45 minutes long, but very well done. Acting is a little stiff and cheesy, but they were trying to recreate a silent movie feel, right down to the makeup and special effects. Very faithful to the story, highly recommended to anyone who likes Lovecraft and you can stream it over Netflix right now.

Escape from New York - 7.0

I saw this because in Chronic's Favorite Character the Actor Portrayed by..., Kurt Russel's character from this film was the winner, I think. I couldn't get over how his voice sounded in his late 20s/early 30s. The film took a long time to pick up. I encourage everyone to just skip the first 30-35 minutes and just know that Kurt Russel's character is Snake Plissken and that he has to save the president in a certain time frame or he will die

I'm not a big fan of silent movies, the only two I liked so far were Phantom of the Opera and Metropolis (The later being the best). Better than Nosferatu, though.

Movies are quite expensive where I go to college but back at home, movies are pretty cheap so I usually see a lot during breaks. My sister also works at one, so if I go with her, we can see any movie at quite a few theaters for free.

Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball - 7/10

Not bad for a straight to DVD movie, not quite as good as the first Smokin' Aces, but I liked the ending of this movie better.
