Giggs: Nest - Trail of the Unwary
If you haven't completed last month, the topic is still up:
welp, count me out last month and this one. I was lazy and careless and I'm going on vacation now. I'll come back as nebulous stronger than ever before.
I give my spot to Giggs because I like shunning Cokes, Seg and anyone else who wants the spot
the club should be renamed to "Rusty and Snowy Recommend Each Other Music Once a Month Club" [RaSREOMOaMC]

Acid Mothers Temple & The Cosmic Inferno - Just Another Band From The Cosmic Inferno
This is a good album, I usually hate most jam bands and guitar solos, but somehow it works really well on this album. The songs are fast and constantly moving, which helps to keep the long track times from becoming burdening. This is the kind of album you just put on do something else, it's not particularly easy to follow for an active listener. The songs will often have periods or shifts of small droney repetitive sections, which I actually like alot as they help to firmly root the rhythm and also serve as a nice break, as hearing an hour straight of flailing guitar solos with no discernible direction would be horrible. The album has tons of energy which keeps it interesting. Basically, this album has all the elements of a bad album but somehow it comes out sounding pretty awesome. Verdict: Pass

I don't appreciate being trolled. I can't believe I actually listened to this. Okay so the first 4 or 5 tracks are slightly better than I anticipated, still not good though. Everything after that is completely embarrassing though. Especially the soft tracks that are supposed to be heartfelt or something and don't have any of the 'metal' or 'rap' of the other tracks. Yeah this album is a joke, why on earth would someone rec this in this club?
Verdict: Fail

My rec for this month will be Zach Heckendorf - The Cool Down.
The kid still playing local venues somewhere in Colorado, but his guitar playing, voice, and swag are phenomenal. I haven't checked any of the music sites we use to still if its on them, but I know its on iTunes. Hopefully it'll be up somewhere. If not, I'll rec something else.
i feel bad for atma for having listening to limp bizkit

This album was okay I guess, but it's another one of those standard indie pop affairs that doesn't really distinguish itself from its peers. The one thing the band has going for them is the voice of the singer chick, it's different and kind of endearing. The first two songs on this album in particular are pretty good and remain interesting and upbeat enough. The rest of the album sort of drags on though, too many of the tempos just drag. At times the lyrics aren't so great either. I very well may acquire the singles for the first two songs on this thing, but the rest of the tracks kind of slump in comparison. Verdict: Fail

But if you guys wanted to take a rec from somebody who reads every one of these topics and listens to a good portion of it, my rec is The Color Spectrum Complete Collection by The Dear Hunter. Juuuust saying.

basically a nebulous can rec something but people in the club can choose whether or not they want to listen to that album, and a nebulous can choose whether or not they want to talk about other albums
Well I listen to most of this anyway ... I have a tendency to ramble, but here it goes.
Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness
This is really, really ... pretty. It's pretty and it's not ... it's not pretty because it's gritty and grinding, but it is because I find it's execution to be perfect. I did a little reading on this and found that it's a concept album and I really wish I had the accompanying 70+ page booklet so I can understand the emotion and mood of the music better, but I'm taking it as face value: which is to say, music that turned out really, really rad to write to. I got a ton of work done while this was on, and my listening experience didn't suffer at all while working. I heard everything, and I love the gritty little transitions. It's most definitely a very, very chill album. I wonder if the gritty parts will be more emotion-inspiring if I knew the story, but without that, all I can say is that I really enjoy this and only wish I had a spare hour-and-a-half every day to listen to this.
I feel like I should say more about it, but there's not much. I'm not someone who listens to this kind of music all that often, I usually write it off as "boring" because I just can never find the time for it. But I put this one on my phone and did some writing (talking pen and pad here) and was disappointed when it came to an end.

Digi They took out my left ventricle and atrium, James said half-heatedly.
So the name scared me to begin with and the ... kazoo-esque thing in the beginning is not helping things at all. Well, the guy has a nice, blues voice ... oh, it's not a blues album. Well that's a disappointment. I don't like the genre-switching after every track through the beginning of the record, because I don't ... you know, like the other genres. I mean, it's country, it's blues, it's pop, it's folk, there's too much going on. Maybe if I played it in my car going down the road I might enjoy it more, but it's trying far too hard to be "quirky" and or "carefree." It's the Matthew McConaughey of albums. I did crack a smile at "Kiss My Black Ass" even though I tried not too.
Gonna have to remove this one from the rotation, however.

Digi This is not the greatest sig in the world, no ... this is just a tribute.
Obviously I'm nebulous but I have a rec if anybody wants to hear. It's bluegrass, folk, punk ... Just found this oh ... a few hours ago and it might be my favorite album this year.
Larry and His Flask - All That We Know

Digi Past, Present and Future walked into a bar ... It was tense.
Unfortunately this brand of electronica/dance/whatever just doesnt do it for me all that much. I like it for sure, but Im more of a trance kind of guy. At this point its just background noise to whatever else Im doing, and not background noise I can acknowledge a lot. I think there a lot of things going on in this that I enjoy, but as a complete piece of music, its not for me. Track two is enjoyable, and I suppose its because of the voice on the track, I find it enjoyable to listen to. Whereas Ive been complaining about things getting boring, I think things on this album develop too quickly. The track Searchlight has some of my favorite aspects on the album, but they start cramming more and more on top of it, and I lose the qualities that I enjoyed and now have far too much noise to deal with.
