I'm clearing up a lot of the main story missions right now. The storyline is very Dissidia-ish, though I am curious what exactly the point is of the Knight Gundam (other than looking badass).
A few things:
Deathscythe Hell is underwhelming at the beginning, though you can find a good build for him and upgrade the right attributes to make him decent.
Unicorn Gundam is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpowered.
Strike Freedom remains my favorite Gundam to use. I like his combos and attacks. Only real weakness is its SP attack while on the ground.

Not surprising since Unicorn is ongoing right now.
Figured as much. It's like, "oh hey devastating SP attack that then leaves him powered up for the next 15 seconds" where you can just rip through people like nothing.
Also, if you have to select a Partner, pick Lacus or Athrun. Their Partner Strikes are awesome.

Remember that's just my opinion, Weaku. The problem is that for a guy who uses a scythe, he doesn't have very many sweeping attacks. And his SP attack and Double-Team SP attacks kinda suck (especially the latter).
Heavyarms is OK. Played 2-3 times with it, decent attacks but nothing too great.

Well, I'm not so sure that I want to lay down $60 for 3 when 2 costs like half the price. I'm not particularly a Gundam fan except X and slightly Wing, but I'm a massive Dynasty Warriors fanboy. DW7 is the only game ever I've bought for $60 new >__>

Also if you don't buy 3 you get no Tallgeese, Deathscythe, or Heavyarms.
Also, 3 is much better looking, has a much better collection and unlock system, and generally is a much better game.
Also, where are you seeing for half the price? I went on Amazon and they cost exactly the same.

Yep, there's local co-op.
I'd say its similar to DW7 in some sense. Instead of the ability to select different weapons that control differently, you select different mobile suits.
However, it lacks DW7's strong narrative (DWG3's storyline is very Dissidia-ish). The battle-fields are repetitive as there's only 10 or so different battlefields (maybe even less, I haven't taken the time to really find out). They seem to have dropped battling in space (unless you do it in non-story mode). Partner Strikes are in DWG3 but not DW7, and that's the one major thing I think DWG3 has on it. Especially Lacus/Athrun's Partner Strikes.
I'd say they're different enough that you won't automatically like DWG3 if you liked DW7, but both are very good, probably the best in both series.

X is great. So utterly overshadowed even in Japan. Literally cancelled ahead of its time. The music for the openings is ah-may-zing.
Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden showed me the light and got me to watch it. Garrod is goddamned amazing, yo. And the music? Oh yes. Oh hell yes. The MIDI versions from AG are orgasmic, too, especially considering they're regular battle music depending on how far in the storyline you are.

SRW:AG's MIDI music in general is fantastic. White Reflection from Wing, Stand up to the Victory from Victory, Men of Destiny and The Winner from 0083 are all pretty good too! I actually prefer the MIDI versions for a couple of the songs.

I could see myself preferring the MIDI for "Men of Destiny", actually. It always takes me out and makes me crack up whenever the Japanese singer says that.

Turn A shouldn't even be on the list since it's barely even a Gundam series. Tomino what the hell were you thinking when you made that? I mean I understand when you were in deep depression and made Victory what it is, but what the hell? At least pick Hajime Katoki to design your mecha and a respectable character designer if you want your story to be taken seriously.
I haven't watched Turn A but Yoko Kanno's music alone makes it worthy of the title "Gundam series", it's just that good.
Although your placement of the shows and films I have watched already pretty much tells me we wouldn't get along when it comes to this franchise. From what little I've seen of SEED and Destiny I agree. ZZ and 0083 are in the right area too. F91 as well. But 0080, CCA, Victory and G beating 00 is simply something I can't get behind and 00's movie losing to 0083, SEED and Destiny is harsh!

00 season 2 breaks the Gundam convention of the Gundam being immortal to fodder. That is why it's so low. The movie isn't that good. I look at Gundam as man vs man, and it did not deliver. F91 was forgettable, I think I would even put it lower than the 00 movie if it didn't have Eternal Wind. 00 movie had nothing, no good music, an ending that made no sense and it killed off the most awesome character from the series.
And trust me, Turn A was revolting to look at, and the music didn't help much. It's the antithesis of Unicorn which has orgasmic mecha designs and very good music.
Pure joy. That is what I am feeling right now. Did a couple of side missions with Garrod and now he's level 20, so I'm playing through his story in Hard mode. Dying in one full combo ftw!
I almost had that last two star stage, but right as my battle gauge emptied, I got triple-teamed. It's like they knew to keep me at low health till then.. ;_;
One question though, is there a character that is considered this series' Lu Bu? I just wanna know who to look out for.

Why do you like 00 so much?
I found most of the cast fairly compelling. I wasn't thrilled with early first-season Louise but she got a lot better when the writers pulled the proverbial storytelling trigger on her character in a big way.
I have a soft spot for impossible situations and found the more contemporary vibe to the whole thing very pleasing. (The post-9/11ism was quite blatant.)
I'm not quite sure what you mean by your first statement though. It breaks the convention of the Gundam being immortal to fodder? I know that Gundam Wing made its pilots' Gundams especially impervious but most of the UC timeline shows were more reasonable about that.
I'm probably misunderstanding you though.

I now have this. WHY make me play two stages before I can co-op? Bah.
And I don't know any of these mechs. And the Nu Gundam sucks. After a brief co-op session with a friend, we finally unlocked Burning Gundam, which my friend wants to use, and we don't have anyone who can pilot it.

Play through mission modes, you'll eventually unlock... I think it was that dude who yells "GUNDAM FIGHT" every time he sees you? Anyways, once he shows up in mission mode and you get a message from him, do missions he's an ally in (either friendship missions randomly or story missions) until he's raised to friendship level 2. Then use him as a partner until he's level 3; you can finally use him.
Pilots can't ride any Gundam that you haven't bought a license for. And you need to play with that Gundam five times before you can buy the license, which seem pretty expensive to me early on imo. And sometimes, if it's a Newtype Gundam (like Quebeley), you'll have to raise your own pilot to level 5 friendship to make them a Newtype even if you have the license. And to raise Garrod to level 5, I had to do a six star mission >__>
If he just wants to use the mech and doesn't care about the pilot, though, getting level 3 is pretty easy once you realize what side he's on. All I know is that he's not on the Those Who Pass By side (the one with Sirocco, Garrod, and Loran).

Remember that you don't have to BEAT 5 missions with a Gundam before getting the license, just deploy 5 times. Find a tough level, set it to hard, get your ass kicked quickly. Easiest way to get a license.

Started playing this yesterday, and even though I don't know every character this is still really fun. But yikes, Unicorn Gundam is so over-powered it's not even funny. I also heard Domon's and Master Asia's new voices. I think Domon's is pretty good, but his original voice is SO good that the new one is still bad compared to it. Master Asia's voice is just too generic I think.

Yeah, just used Unicorn Gundam for the first time a few minutes ago, and holy crap dat SP attack. He was at level 1 with the default Gundam and still eating faces alive. Felt the same way when I first played Domon earlier. DX is still my favorite, though.
Garrod's English voice is so terrible I've switched to Japanese, whee! Puru also went from annoying as hell to kinda endearing. Full Frontal's English voice just does not fit him, too.
..I really want to watch ZZ
