Either 3 for the difficulty and legendarily atrocious voice acting or 4 if you're going to hunt down the expansions.

5 is also acceptable but don't get 2 because the sequels one-up the hell out of it and 1 isn't even the same genre.

This doesn't say which one is the most fun.

I'm looking for a somewhat cheap buy, so that I can just pick it up and play it for a bit or something to taht effect.

DW3 and DW5 are generally accepted to be the best DW games pre-DW7. I'm biased towards 5 because I only played DW3 once, but DW5 is a damn good game.

Yeah, good call. DW6 on the PS2 isn't too good - it's down port of the PS3/360 game.
