Even then I didn't have problems (Mind you, the highest level I got to was 30), though I agree having random bandits with very expensive daedric/glass armor doesn't make much sense. If they have the ability to get such good armor, why are they bandits in the first place?

I never got to a higher level due to my short attention span. Once I get so far with a character, I think about other builds I want to try out.

Glass I could still tolerate but Daedric ? Never, the whole point of the armor is to be freaking rare.

I mean in Morrowind if you wanted a full set without having to kill an important NPC you'd need the 2 expansions.

Whoa whoa whoa, how did it get from fast travel discussion to combat, dungeon, and flinging insults?

Point is, Fast Travel has NOTHING to do with exploration. People who are intent on looking for a destination isn't going to enter a cave with a different name just because it's there. Likewise, the people who love to explore will just ignore fast travel (or, you know, whine and moan about it on the internet) and enter every location they stumble unto. Whether or not fast travel is in the game so they can warp to their destination won't magically change how they play the game.

Combat? Yeah, better in Oblivion. This is NOT including the leveling system, which sucks ass in all ES games, but if we include it then yeah, Oblivion is the worst one. And how can you not be in combat every 2 minutes while exploring a dungeon? It's full of critters here and there. Unless you meant 2 minutes fighting the same enemy, then yeah.

And lol the last comment. Hell, I explore the entire land to dungeon plunge when I have to wait for the next quest or quest stage.

I agree, but I also see peoples problems with the way Oblivion did dungeons. There was no point in going in most of them because the reward was leveled loot that was worth jack.

Once again, I think Fallout 3 did things perfect. Static locations of rare items, with static-leveled enemies around some, leveled enemies around others. In Fallout 3 EVERY location felt like it was worth exploring. I want that to be what Skyrim is like.

I'm actually playing Fallout 3 and I don't really like exploring in this game either. Yeah it's much much better than Oblivion and yeah there is worthwhile stuff. But the worthwhile stuff is just weapons with better stats, I kinda understand why they can't give like magic weapons and stuff that gives you magic shield or summon spells because it wouldn't make sense but you know, between finding a legendary artifact of awesome power or a unique weapon with more damage and accuracy..

I really like the game though ! It's just that I don't play it for item hunting.

Well that's not the main reason anyone plays any game. I'm just saying it rewards you for exploring. A perk, if you will, of being adventurous.

Huh, weird, the dungeon line I had was erased.

Anyway, yeah, I love Morrowind's dungeon way better.

EDIT: And by that, I don't mean the stuff you find being better (though it is, most of the time), I meant the dungeon designs themselves. I want to get rewarded with something other than just another cave or Tomb! Surprise every so often, like with a Nordic Tomb inside a Dunmer Tomb!

This is NOT including the leveling system, which sucks ass in all ES games.

In theory the ES leveling system is the best you could ever have for a RPG, getting better at what you do is imho the most realistic and logical way to do a leveling system. Where the problem is is the '' Level Up after 10 gain in Major/Minor skills ''. What it does here is encourage efficient leveling because otherwise you gimp your character. What they'd need to do is something in the vein of Galsiah's Character Development Mod for Morrowind. I won't go into details but what the mod does is remove the +1 Level every 10 major/minor levels to replace it by Skill gain that adds to your stats, for instance gaining 10 levels in Short Blade could give you something like 3 speed, 2 agi and 1 str.

Basically you'd get better at what you'd do, and the stats that are necessary to do what you do would raise too. If you fight with Longsword a lot you'll get better at using them, and since to fight efficiently you need agility, speed, strength and endurance those stats will raise at the same time (In GCD you'd get no Int or Will gain for training Longsword since those stats aren't used when swordfighting).

Yeah, I was mainly talking about how attribute grows (+5 cap every level? Really?)

Fast Travel did have something to do with exploration. Play Morrowind. Play Oblivion. You can tell which game the developers spent more time on adding hidden dungeons, things to do on the side of the road, and overall exploration. Morrowind. Oblivion was very watered down and bad compared to morrowind.

What the hell does that have to with Fast Travel?

That just shows laziness on the developers, but not because they inserted Fast Travel. That's like saying adding horses forced them to drop Spears.

The thought is that because they put in Fast Travel they figured people would just use it so they don't need to spend as much time or effort on roadside stuff since people won't see it if they use Fast Travel.

wow.

That.... that's the basis of the "down with Fast Travel" argument? That's just stupid. Again, whether or not they insert FT they still won't make the world-

Oh you know what screw this.

tbqh there was much less to do in Oblivion, probably because of fast travel

Morrowind had about double the dungeons that Oblivion had, scattered around the world.

(no for real this is a fact, Oblivion was about 200ish and Morrowind was 400ish)

I think the geography and view distance had something to do with that. Morrowind was all mountains and canyons with a low view distance so putting lots of dungeons close together wasn't a problem since it wouldn't looked too packed. Oblivion couldn't really have added more dungeons without looking packed full.

Still, it's no excuse for the fact that the dungeons that were there were crappy.

the truth is upsetting, isnt it? Oblivion is a solid game. I enjoyed it, and im sure ill play again one day. But morrowind is just loads better. Im hoping skyrim is more like it, although from what ive read its been hit and miss.
