Do whatever !

If I were you I'd stay in the first town for a while, there are some quests and there's a dungeon real close, it's made for new players so you can go there !

After that well you should head for Balmora !

My advice: play a caster.

Sure you can hack at things with swords(And may become frustrated at Morrowind's kind of odd hit system), but Morrowind has a ton of cool spells hidden away. You get a way better experience this way. Though the game is amazing regardless of how you choose to play it.

no, Morrowind is much better than Oblivion imo.

Morrowind has a better environment, the story and quests are better. The level scaling or whatever of enemies is better. Like in Oblivion you can enter dungeon at lv 1 and be alright. But Morrowind the guys might be too strong and you will get pwned. Oblivion also has the fast travel which some might like, but I don't care much for it and try and only use it if im in a bind or I'm lazy. Plus I always hated "the magic red compass". Morrowind you gotta find stuff on your own really, using some directions from NPC's sometimes of which are vague.

Olbivion DOES have better combat I'd say, and it's cool to hear the VA even if it gest repetive after a while. (I SAW A MUDCRAB BY THE RIVER TODAY TERRIBLE CREATURES). But Morrowind is almost a perfect game.

Morrowind has a better environment, the story and quests are better.

I agree with environment and story (To a point; neither game's main story is all that good), but I'll take a majority of Oblivion's quests any day.

The level scaling or whatever of enemies is better.

I can agree with this. I'm hoping Skyrim has a system more similar to Fallout 3's, where random encounters are level based, but some areas have enemies that will toast low-levels in an instant.

Oblivion also has the fast travel which some might like, but I don't care much for it and try and only use it if im in a bind or I'm lazy.

See, I think it's a great convenience. I can't stand quests in Morrowind that drag me all over the continent, adding half an hour of unnecessary gameplay that usually only has a few enemy bump-ins anyway (Unless you need to go into Cliff Racer country, in which case you might as well have entered a beat'em up game for the next ten minutes).

Plus I always hated "the magic red compass".

Another convenience, IMO, that I find very handy. Hated going into big dungeons/caves in Morrowind and getting turned around five time before finding my objective.

And yeah, Oblivion's combat is vastly superior to Morrowind's. A person's skill in, say, long swords shouldn't determine how hard it is to connect a hit on someone. It should determine how much damage you do with said weapon. Having to swing at a giant f****** netch time after time, when it's this gigantic creature right in your grill is ridiculous. And the voice acting is repetitive, sure, but so is a lot of Morrowind's dialogue, if you ask everyone the same questions.

Morrowind is a very good game. I just don't think it's as good as Oblivion.

The only reason Arena got away with it is because you hardly saw any of the provinces at all.

If they were to include all the provinces in full, it would be a mind bogglingly huge game. Not to mention I would expect to be able to return to all the dungeons I've been in before.

Then again, who's to say they exist after all that happened in-between Oblivion and Skyrim.

A limit on summons is still necessary, though (Or at least shortened summon timers the more you have out), otherwise there's literally no point in playing anything but conjurer.

the problem is because oblivion has easy fast travel, the developers didnt add as much fun to fans of exploring. When i play games like morrowind, i WANT to get lost in the game. I want to walk along a ros\ad, stumble upon a dungeon, and find dragonscale armor. I fee; because of fast travel, the developers kinda threw that aspect of the game away.

Besides the armor part (leveled loot was indeed a bad idea), there are a s*** ton of dungeons to be found roadside in Oblivion. I don't see how they threw the exploration aspect away at all.

im not arguing that. Im arguing the fact that there is nothing to explore in oblivion. Fast travel changed how the game was played. Id have no problem with fast travel if they kept in as many random dungeons and amount to explore. There is so much more detail in the geography in morrowind compared to oblivion. The only detail oblivion has over morrowind is with npc schedules, and the amount of realism the npc schedules have is WAY blown out of proportion in oblivion.

Oblivion has better combat, but if you are playing morrowind/oblivion while being in combat every 2 minutes, you are playing it wrong.

Maybe you should stop being part of the ADD gamer generation we have today with the "i want to beat a game asap to brag to everyone on facebook!"

The amount of roadside stuff in oblivion is minuscule compared to morrowind. Oblivion isnt a bad game, but its horrible compared to morrowind.

Yeah, but there's no incentive to find them anyway, thanks to leveled content you,re sure to NEVER find stuff that's worthwhile, there are exceptions but they are few and far between. I mean even if you find a dungeon that's a quest location you're likely to stumble on an impossible to unlock door (durr). In Morrowind I don,t have to be on a quest that send me after a super strong artifact to find that artifact, if I happen to stumble on the place where the artifact is and am strong enough to get it then I deserve to take the damn thing.

Leveled content is really the worse thing ever.. Oblivion is pretty much a game in which you don't want to do anything until you hit level 20 or so because even quest rewards are leveled.

They threw it away by making it completely useless and unrewarding in several ways. Every dungeon in Oblivion looked pretty much exactly the same which wasn't the case in morrowind.

More importantly gear. There was no point in doing anything in Oblivion but finding a dungeon that had one of the special chests and a decent amount of enemies then quickly clearing said dungeon going outside and waiting 3 days and clearing the dungeon again. This would get you all the best pieces of gear at the fastest speed.

In Morrowind loot wasn't randomized like that and it was actually unique. After trekking through a long dungeon you could find a godly unique piece of gear that was no where else in the game.

Fix'd.

Combat seems better at first since it's more Dynamic, but once you get to the point every single fight takes more than a minute it gets really annoying.

I've seen this claim a lot and never got it. I've never been in a fight in Oblivion for longer than a minute against boss characters (Umbra, Umaril), let alone a normal fight. Maybe it's because I always made sure to go into battle with a well stocked enchanted weapon, but yeah, I've never had ONE fight with a non-boss go more than 15 seconds.

Edit: Well, OK, on the highest difficulty setting it was a bit longer...maybe 30 seconds, tops?

It happens mostly when you hit one of those level that makes all bandits and stuff gain a better tier of equipment while you don't.

And I don't do efficient leveling since it sucks but I shouldn't be punished for playing the game the way its meant to be played.
