Hah I actually don't really practice, just sing a lot! I guess that's kind of 'practicing' but whatever. Don't do any exercises or anything for the moment.

I only cover songs I really like at the moment (working on some original material with a friend too, kind of folky/bluesy stuff and I play bass and write lyrics/songs in a band). I don't know that song so yeah!

I am kind of the same way! I love sing, but I never went through with any sort of lessons. Slowly getting better year by year and I know in a few years I will be good ^_^

yeah your voice sounds pretty good here. I don't have it all side by side for comparison but it seems like it's improved since the early stuff you posted on B8.

I think you should try to stretch your style a little, maybe! At the moment you are sounding good, but the style is safe!

I'm on the Alligator train too but any of the last three albums is a good place to start. I love the first two too but they're not as critically acclaimed as the other three.

Alligator is cool, but I prefer Boxer.

You're definitely better than me at singing, that wasn't bad at all. I especially liked the Don't Think Twice cover. I think your voice really suits his style very well. The Norwegian Wood cover was really good too.

also Boxer grew on me a lot the past few months (and I already loved the hell out of that album)

It's hard to pick a favourite now, but Alligator still slightly beats the rest for me. I'd probably rank them something like

Alligator>High Violet=Boxer>Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers>The National

Sad Songs is still a solid 8.5 or so mind you! Some of their best songs are on there (Slipping Husband, Cardinal Song and Available)

Never heard anything pre-Alligator. I do have all of their studio albums, so I should get on that sometime.

I was thinking about putting an Elephant Gun cover up (I think I'm going to focus on the ukulele for a while), but the chorus goes beyond my vocal range. Have you ever thought about getting a ukulele? You should because they're an absolute blast. The first day I got mine I had more fun with it than I've ever had in one day on a guitar in the seven years I've been playing. Plus, you're a Beirut fan are you not? They're really cheap, too!

I've been thinking about it since I saw your Beirut cover actually! Seems like a really fun and easy instrument to pick up! Maybe I'll buy one when I hit the music store for a new bass
