My HoN client is broken (loading screen----->crash), so I was thinking about checking out LoL. Gaming is dying for me personally (tried pokemon black, got to 4th gym, am bored, trying to grind it out;nothing on my 360/pc really appeals to me anymore, don't have cash to bore myself on an mmo) so I'm really trying to find a new game.

For those of whom have played both; how does it compare?

LoL is very different. The gameplay is slower, ala DotA. It's harder to juke since the trees are different but there are bushes you can hide in in which you're invisible to anyone not in them. Also, you can't deny creeps or towers, and barracks respawn if the rest of the game isn't finished fast enough once they're killed.

You also don't get complete selection of heroes. Every week there's a different rotation of free heroes, but you can buy heroes to use permanently with points saved up from playing enough games. Your account starts at level 1 and as you play you get more and more experience till you hit level 30. As you level up, you get access to an increasing amount of skills which any hero can use. You get to select 2 of these skills to have when you start a game. As well, there are talent trees where you get to put points in to make your character stronger (though it's not nearly as defining as say, a WoW talent tree). Lastly of what I can remember, as you level up you can buy/equip more and more expensive "runes" which make your character minorly more effective in various stats. Those are only needed if you're going for absurd levels of min/maxing; they're too expensive at the high levels to be practical and worth it for your average player.

Biggest difference imo is that the game doesnt snowball as hard.

wait so there aren't any real "in-game" advantages for those of higher levels...or are there?

also what do you mean by snowballs? AFAIK in HoN once you let them team with the hard carry get farmed, its really hard to win; are the chars in LoL not as carryish?

There are, but they are minimal. And you won't be facing people that much higher than you anyway.

And not as much no. You cant start screwing around just because your ahead in gold.

as well as different summoner skills

More about the "in-game advantages," they are there, but nowhere near the point that somebody will be able to defeat you based on their level alone. Skill and teamwork will always prevail, even in the case of level 1 vs. level 30 (which will never happen this is just an exaggerated example).

Oh yeah, you don't lose gold for dying. That's a big part of the snowballing thing. The bonuses for ending someone's killing streak are also a fair bit higher.
