"Arrows and Anchors" by Fair to Midland. Alternative metal. Progressive rock. Some of the best lyrical content out there. Great instrumentation. Sex in music form.

Also The Color Spectrum. Listen to that. and also In The Mountain, In The Cloud. Listen to that one too.

The only album I've heard from them is Fables From a Mayfly, but it's great. I'll have to do that.

The music seems cool but right now I can't get past the production. The distorted guitars seem too dense and thick for the style of music.

Not digging A&A as much as Fables so far, but it's still very good. Fables grew on me quite a bit, so I wouldn't be too surprised if that ends up changing!

Fables grew on me, too, so I expect A&A to do the same.

And the video for Musical Chairs is great. Darroh Sudderth is a twitchy little man. He puts on an amazing live show from what I've heard.

Just got done with the first track. Pretty interesting, though I'm not feeling all the love you guys are giving it yet. Gonna give the other tracks a listen, maybe they'll convince me.

Listen to Musical Chairs and Dance of the Manatee. I'd say they're the more 'single'-ish FtM songs and easier to get into on first listen. Though all their songs are quite accessible so whatevs

Also guys, you need to hear the bonus track "Pour The Coal To 'Er."

Children's choir for the win.

Gotta say now that I had the time to listen to all the stuff in this topic, the first song really, REALLY didn't do the band justice. Bad pick there, Digi. Coppertank Island should have been the first link, because it has much more substance than Short Haired Tornado, and similarly, Amarillo was pretty good as well. Might have to listen to FtM's albums in the flesh, it seems to me that they would certainly benefit from a better sound quality than what my shoddy computer speakers can provide!

Short-Haired Tornado is basically the consensus favorite and my personal favorite of the new album.

The track I shared on here was definitely "Walls of Jericho" by them and I still love it.

Fables went from "hey this is really sweet and catchy" to "I have to listen to this album every day until the new CD" and I did, just about. Arrows and Anchors is about on par with it right now.

Some of my favorite things about the album: everything to do with short-haired tornado, the cymbal work on bright bulbs, the intro to loophole, the bass on musical chairs and the children's choir on pour the coal to 'er
