My Score 10 - Junction system depth and brilliance, some of the best characters to date (Squall being my favorite VG protagonist). The Final Fantasy which defied the odds of generic-ness and produced a masterpiece
Wow. No one has come in and trashed it yet. Also, amazing timing, Axl. There was a "rate the game" for this not a week ago.
It's not my favorite in the series. It's not even in my top five. But it's probably number six or so -- and that's still a fair bit above a lot of other games I've played. So...

I usually consider a 1 to be a game that is broken (you know the sense), unplayable, and so uninteresting that the player could not stomach playing it for more than a few sittings.
Which is no game I played yet, so I really applaud these people throwing them out at popular games.
The music alone makes it worth more than a 1/10, it's better than 90% of games out there. The FMVs also make it worthy of more than 1/10, Square is the best at that kind of stuff.

but Junction is awful, eliminates any sort of actual battle strategy. Abusable Limits further make battles simplistic and silly. Card refining makes the game a mess (you can get Squall's 2nd best weapon before the first dungeon). Bad story, 2nd disc is literally the most bored I've ever been playing a video game. Also FFVIII robbed Xenogears of its budget for the 2nd disc to pay for cinematics of dumb s*** like prisons that drill into the earth.

Apparently a sizable portion of the voters disagree with you on the quality of said game.
So don't act like the "honest" rating for FFVIII is a low score or something.
