We're closing in on the final movie before the Avenger Initiative gets complete. Thanks to Iron Man 1&2, Incredible Hulk, and Thor, Marvel has hit their stride at the right time. I haven't seen First Class, but that only adds to the momentum they have going. Captain America has a lot going for it (good acting and studio pedigree). Avengers hinges on whether Chris Evans can fulfill this hefty role along side a powerhouse like RDJ. Until the movie comes out, let's use this time to discuss everything going on in the Marvel continuity and the hype surrounding the First Avenger.

My problem is it proves my point from a few weeks ago that no one seems to care about the context of reviews. It's the number...like some sacred cow, an arbitrary number supercedes subjective opinion that tells you more about the product.

Well some people have different standards. It is reasonable to believe that for most movies if it gets a bad score its probably a bad movie. Especially if the movie isn't up your alley. People like to see scores so they don't have to do a ton of research for entertainment.

I don't think Cap is going to set the world on fire. It's merely clearing the ashes from Harry Potter's firestorm. Still, to say you'd rather watch Mila Kunis in some stupid romance movie over it seems silly.
If they end up saying they'd rather watch some girl movie over Cowboys and Aliens, THEN they do suck.

Review by massive comic and movie nerd MovieBob. Words like "perfect in every way," and "the best adaptation one could have hoped for," show a good sign for this movie. CAN'T WAIT!
I wish Block E didn't charge $10-15 for afternoon showings.

Cap lived up to Marvel standards. I liked how both Cap was treated as a normal guy, despite his gifts. He learned using his powers effectively and became the leader the Avengers need. Weaving and Jones dominated my attention for different reasons. Stock characters yes, but they played them well. I would have liked to see a little more Howard Stark, to build the Iron Man connection, but that's a minor gripe. Evans is perfect and fit right alongside the best casting decisions the company always seems to make. The Avengers should be a massive success.
