That runs like ****.

Why put that out? Is it really a better option to let it run like that than to give it a slight visual downgrade?

Fans whine when a game doesn't rely on good art direction instead of space-station technology is why

Also, developers like stretching out and just turning every dial up to max. Combine both things and you get excessive graphics.
