It is a combination of an RPG and Shooter. It has by far the best story of any free game I've ever played and it beats most games i've paid money for. You should really play it!

Augh, for whatever reason I cannot beat the City Master in World 3.
That blue fireball spread gets me at least half of the time and I just can't seem to stop running into it... <___>
Also, how did you guys build your stats, mods, and skills? I've kept Offense maxed (or close to it), put a large amount of puts into Agility, a little less into Defense, a below average amount into Intel, and a low amount into Luck. Specifically, at level 56, I have 183 (maxed) Offense, 112 Defense, 136 Agility, 93 Intel, and 76 Luck.
For Mods I went and maxed out the Accuracy, Crit, and Engine Mods, and then split the rest evenly into Shield and Regen Mods. Specifically, I have 18 Shield Mods, 18 Regen Mods, 5 Accuracy Mods, 5 Crit Mods, and 15 Engine Mods for a total of 61 Mods purchased.
For Skills I took Explosive Crit, Vertical Spread, Demolitions, and Power Crit, but I'm really wishing that I took Rapid Reload instead of Vertical Spread. Oh well. Haven't gotten one the fifth tier ones yet.
Not entirely sure if I'm satisfied with this. The main goal was to make a build heavy on offense and avoiding crap, but I'm curious how good others ways to play would be, if there are any. Now that I think about it I really should start pumping Int instead of Defense. Not sure why I chose Defense in the first place....
What Weapons/Secondaries do you guys tend to use? I really like Crush - it covers quite a good area and does really nice damage, but Laser is good if I need to stay away and Wave is good for those stages that are heavy on walls. Not sure what to make of Chain just yet, though. For Secondaries I'll primarily use V-Bomb when in a fairly open area, but if physical walls are a problem I'll put on Bomb since it passes through them. I tend to use Scatter for bosses, though for not for ones like the Submarine that move around a whole lot. Guess I should note that Demolitions makes the Secondaries a whole lot more useful with those extra shots it adds to each of the different types.
That... was really long and I don't expect anyone to reply with nearly this much information. Just something short and general will do. >__>
So you really can become a ridiculous tank, huh? Argh, thought the game would be leaning towards you not being able to ever all that much life, but I guess I'm completely wrong... Oh well.
You can even ignore the huge circle thing. It doesn't do that much damage. Just sit there and pound away (i used machine gun) and you'll get it if you come in with close to full health.

Yeah, I think I probably paid too much attention to the big red ball and too little attention to the blue fireball spread.
Also, for whatever reason I haven't paid attention to how much more damage the MachGun does compared to the Laser... <__>
Took Longshot anyway. It's alright, it makes the Sawmines WAAAAAY better, but I actually think it makes Crush a bit worse. It probably makes the Machgun quite a bit easier to aim, but I didn't really try it much. That applies to Wave, too, I think, but probably less since Wave covers a lot more area than the Machgun. I don't think it has much of an effect on anything else.
I really like the Sawmines since they're powerful, cover a decent amount of space, have that double back property, and go through walls. I really like normal Crush too though, since it covers a lot of area and does a lot of damage, too. No Longshot does mean I have to use Wave on the stages where there's tons of walls, but it's not too big of a deal...
I also have every ending now except for Ginny's and the best ending. I actually didn't realize that you could get multiple endings from a single playthrough... >_< Will need to play through once more to get those two, though.
===SPOILERS FOR WORLD 2 IN THIS POST=== Uhh so why am I able to converse with Ginny on the ship in the cafe when I was -just- told that she took off into outer space with all of my star fragments
seems like a really big error to make
I think there was another error like that I ran into as well, but I forget what it was.
also the quality of writing is not as great as it's being made out to be imo, mostly the same kind of things you see in your typical sci-fi fantasy/anime story (except the twist I suppose) and dating sim-type conversations

A hare like me couldn't catch up to Black Turtle.
Wait so the way to becoming a Jenni was sharing your power with someone that didn't have any? Wouldn't that mean that Ginny became a Jenni by sharing herself with Deuce twice? Or is sharing your life force different than sharing your element or something?
*end spoilers*
Yeah the writing really wasn't THAT great. It was pretty decent but also pretty typical. Overall it was fun but some of the endings are just stupid.

*still spoilers*
Ginny is a Djinni, something entirely different from a Janni. Djinni is an elemental being of Air, Efreeti is an elemental being of Fire, Marid is an elemental being of Water, and Janni is an elemental being with all the elements, but with a very weak form of each. Janni were formerly other types of elemental beings and gave their powers to someone else to become a Janni. Janni can live independent from Lucerna, but the others need Lucerna to live. There's also an Earth elemental (rounding out the 4 elements), but I don't remember if a name for them is given, and I don't remember if anyone in the game is or was one of those. In terms of the strength of their powers, Marid > Efreeti > Djinni, with Janni basically not having any elemental powers. Not sure where the Earth ones would fit in there.
Ginny bisected her life twice to save Deuce's life two times, but that process has nothing to do with the process of becoming a Janni.
Has anyone bothered to try the getting no deaths for most of the game for Ginny's ending (and the secret ending)? I got all the other endings, but no deaths is a lot harder than knowing when to talk to people or any of the other requirements for talking to people.
You can die after you complete all the necessary cafe talks with Ginny and still get her ending, but having no deaths is supposed to be a requirement for the final cafe talk with her.
Decided that I'm not going to bother getting her ending, so I went and watched her ending and the special ending on youtube.
The only other things I'd consider doing now would be the Moolianaire, Modderiffic, and Time Paradox achievements, but the first two are just grinding and the third isn't worth it. The Chosen One and Social Club achievements go with the Ginny/Special endings in why I won't get them.
