Janna is indeed very active. She's good if you're good, and by good I mean "OMGMAZING" because she has a hard CC, a soft CC, a heal, a knockback, a good shield, an AD buff, and a global MS buff, which is a TON of stuff.
Alistar meanwhile is...different. He's like Taric: you need to make things happen for your carry by setting him up for tons of kills instead of going AFK and healing while staying back, and later on he becomes either a force of nature that deals crazy damage while being nigh unkillable or an incredible support that donates all his farm and can still initiate and tank like a boss. He's even more active than Janna, but requires a specific mindset to play.

Why is Nidalee not considered Ranged or Melee in the Character attributes? Like every other champion is considered one or the other. But Nidalee is neither. Is it because she is both kinda?
That's pretty much why I only normal when I want to try a new champion out or I get an invite from you guys. Normal people are just too damn stupid.

Oh right, and the usual warning: don't fill this topic up while I'm asleep, I'll make a new one when I wake up (please don't make a new one FD, don't want to make it a trend of something going wrong with the postage), and see you guys sometime after the sun rises!

Well Kan, I love Taric, but I'm just not very good with him. His kit is pretty nice, and I've read a few guides to pick up some tips, but when he was free I just didn't feel like I was contributing as much as I could be to my team.
some supports just can't do anything, no matter how good they are
Kan and I played a game just now, I laned with Ashe as Galio, against MF+Sona. MF was awful at everything except pushing, and even though the Ashe wasn't very good either, my Galio was way more helpful to our team's AD carry than their Sona. The Sona wasn't very bad from what I could see (then again I've never played her so I can't critique well), but I completely agree with what Red is saying. Not that I have much experience with ranked or anything, but Galio can do a lot more to help a bad lanemate than a Sona can.
Speaking as someone who's been in ELO hell, and as someone who got there mostly by playing supports (that and vicious fps problems from my computer overheating and not knowing why and Kennen back when he was a gimp), Red is right.
The only way to carry at low ELO with Janna is by playing her as a pusher, using Tornado to wipe lanes, and using Wind Shield to up your damage vs turrets to bring them down. This is actually enough to win games if the enemy team ignores the split push long enough for you to actually get hits in on the turret and your team isn't hyper aggressive. She's got enough escapes that she can reliably get away when the other team comes to get you.
If your teammates suck she will suck in team fights unless you're dancing around a ton before the actual fight and you manage to whittle them away with tornadoes. Once the fight starts even if you manage to save your doofus carry it's still a doofus carry and you just wasted all your spells to do it.
So yeah if you think you're carrying low ELOs as Janna I think it's probably the case that your teammates aren't as bad as you think.
