Blitzcrank does not snowball. At all. A fed Blitzcrank is no more damaging to your team than a fed Soraka. It's not ideal, sure, but it's nothing like a fed Corki or anything.
And as for "he landed one move" - it actually has a relatively short range, and the animation forces blitzcrank to stop for a second, then shoot it out. He can't do it on the move or anything. Just don't run in a straight line and work on making your movements less predictable.
This coming from the guy who used to land his shots a lot but now missing 90% of them because people are better at dodging it.
Blitz has like, zero damage sustained damage. He's just a big burst machine, except his burst relies on grabbing someone, which is a lot more than a lot of other champions.
Aside from that he doesn't do much damage tbqh
Not that it matters since most of the time that he grabs someone they will instantly die to his team.
DPS AD Blitzcrank (which is better at knocking down towers than AP Blitz) really isn't good at just standing there and autoattacking. Sure he has a speed-up and a move that doubles his damage every 5 seconds (at max level), but he is no AD carry by any means. And the cooldowns on his grab at level one are 17ish seconds, and at max they're closer to 10 or 11. So take advantage of those down times.

Also, peaf, you seem to think that Blitz is only going to grab you while you're laning.
During a team fight in top lane, one of our dudes was grabbed through the wall separating the river and blue's outermost tower.
That's not even counting how many times I wasn't looking at him that he caught people from the brush, or something.
It just gets really annoying when you know that Blitz is going to be a problem with his teammate riding his metallic nuts all game, as if you could kill him anyway, but there's nothing you can really do about it aside from have a team mate who's in fighting condition.

Well yes, a good blitz can grab through walls into darkness to anticipate where you are.
Solve this by standing further from the walls.
Play Blitz some time. See how short his grab actually is. The skillshot marker for it is actually a bit deceiving, even - the grab does not hit things at the end of the marker, where it goes from a line into a point. The hitbox from side to side is also relatively small. If he's in the brush, stand about half a lane away from the brush. General rule of thumb.
I'll never understand Riot. Trynd and Kayle were two late game beasts that needed great farm or early kills to thrive. They had no need for these changes. Trynd getting a 1.0 ratio while keeping his ap is silly. What they did to kayle was even worse. The idea was fine except it should have applied instantly. Her passive now reads 'get guinsoo or else'.

Kayle had so many ways to play. I used to open with Rylai's and just chase down everything. Sometimes I would go the lich bane route. Point is her passive gave her so much variety. Now to make her passive even usable you have to buy attack speed. Now, not all is bad, her E is spammable as all Hell, but without her passive it's not as meaningful when you don't have 200 attack plus 240 ap hitting multiple enemies.

I may actually take the net loss and buy Gangplank just because. I had fun with him when he was free like last month and I don't need to buy Morde since he's free like every other week anyway. Never played Olaf, don't intend to yet.

I tend to build Taric like I would a tank: Philo, HoG, Mercs early on. I usually pick up Soulstealer to passively raise my AP to acceptable levels. Then, it pretty much varies. I don't actually know what a good Taric build is, but this works well enough for me.

Gangplank is currently my favorite off tank. Triforce warmogs atmas lol. He has sivir's ult as a normal move. He can shake off any cc with a self heal. His Q combines with triforce majestically. His ult saves turrets and creates unfair situations all over the map. He's just really good right now. Taric is my pick for best AD carry feeder. When you lane against taric you know you're going to get stunned and the ranged carry is going to pop you. You know Shatter will make that Carry very hard to kill and that once you hit 6 Tarics ult will make that carry even more terrifying. You can build taric like a standard support with gold items. You can make him an aura whore seeing as he has two built in. You can tank with him. Hell you can build ap items turn your ult on and just be hard as Hell to kill.

But what should I start with? I had some mana problems as Taric, but getting just the mana part of the philostone leaves me with almost 300 left at the base.

What they did to kayle (paraphrasing a red post here) was not to make her rework instantly good. They just wanted a build that they could fiddle with if it was underpowered, or overpowered or whatever state it was in. The way she worked before required a remake to be fiddled with. She still plays fundamentally the same so yeah.

I usually just start with regrowth pendant and a mana pot and deal with the fact that Taric has mana issues until I get my philo. You could always turn the Meki into a chalice when you beam back to base, since the extrea mres is still nice and the regen basically means Taric never has to go back to the fountain.
Alternatively, just sell it when you're done with it. >_>

Again I don't see what was wrong with old Kayle. She was high risk high reward early on. She needed lots of farm or kills to be successful mid game. They don't want tryndamere-like beasts in the late game (who deal AoE damage and can heal herself better than trynd can). I mean that's why they nerfed Trynd >_>

I plan on switching my main to irelia permanently. Tanky dps is the one role I have yet to find a proficient character and I think she'll be it. Solomid has a guide using health regen quints that I think i'll try out. Basically giving her even more ridiculous sustainability. For the people more experienced with her, when should I start being aggressive in solo lane and who can I/can't I bully?
