Chaucer's is great mead, especially steeped in mulling spices. You have to be in the mood for that sort of comfort drink but it's pretty much the only mead I've had where it seems like anyone cared about what they were making.

I was looking at a bottle of The Macallan 25 year yesterday, Raydyn's special scotch has me jealous. but augh that's a lot to spend when the 18 year is simply better

As a Canadian who has never really travelled to the U.S. (only been to Seattle, but that was years ago when I was a vodka drinker), what would I be getting if I asked for a "whiskey and coke" from a neighborhood bar?

Jack Daniels?

The reason I ask is "whiskey" means Canadian Rye Whiskey to me. I was unpleasantly surprised the first time I ordered a whiskey in Europe and got Scotch!! I'm not man enough for scotch yet haha

I just bought some Jim Beam Rye after this topic had me thinking about it. I definitely like a standard bourbon better, but this impressed me quite a bit. It is a rye whiskey, so you get a little bit of spice and pepper. It has a really smooth finish. It hides its alcohol content pretty well. It doesn't have that hit-you-in-the-face strength you expect from traditional Beam shots. For its price, its definitely something I can sip on.
