Hey, I just found another article about this and was curious to know if it had been confirmed anywhere or not. If so, that would be awesome, and you'd think Nintendo would have done something to prevent it.
Ha, actually in one of the comments under the article, "Reggie FilsAime" (or more likely some random person with that username) said, "If this turns out to be true then the only free games we're going to offer Wal-mart customers are 20 copies of WarioWare: Snapped! "

You realize you don't have to hope for this, right? You can buy it now, then go back with your receipt after the price drop and get it readjusted. People have already confirmed Wal-Mart will do this, but you can ask if you're really paranoid.

Doesn't matter if they do for the reason SEP mentioned.

rumor confirmed, i'm now the proud new owner of a cosmo black 3ds.
dude with a blackberry looking scan gun had to fiddle around with the box for a bit, but sure enough it rang up 169.96. so if you want your cheap 3ds and free games, better head over quick.

I wish it were possible to buy it, create an online account (don't think 3DS has these) before the deadline to secure the 20 games, return it, buy it again years down the road, and sign up with the same account with the 20 games stashed. That would be the bomb diggity.

I see. For some reason I was getting this confused with the whole "you can't return a 3DS to get a cheaper one because it's a different model" thing. Like only old 3DS's can do that.
there is no functional difference going on, it's a firmware/server thing on their end most likely. there's nothing wrong with it seeing how people have bought some to price match the drop anyway afterwards. just the way wal-mart and best buy work. hell, you can go to best buy today, pick it up, PM it next week and you will be fine. anyone with a price match policy that lasts for X amount of days (BB is 30) will work.

...though a quick online check says best buy AND target both have already been doing this straight off of wal-mart. so really, wal-mart, best buy, or target. go for it.
