I rarely use Facebook, but from what my sister acts like, unfriending someone is the same as punching them in the face and calling their mom a hooker.

Also, they don't get any alert or whatever if you unfriend them. If you never talk to them or anything, it's fine.

i never understood people who defriend others. Maybe an ex boyfriend/girlfriend who cheated on you or something. But i mean hell nowadays people like to brag about their friend totals on facebook. I remember when my 250ish friends total was an extremely large total. Now anything under 500 seems like its low if you joined facebook in your high school/college days.

Facebook is kinda boring now though. The novelty wore off for me sometime around 2008. Now i pretty much check it once a day for about 10 minutes, maybe more if i need to chat with a coworker or fellow grad student.

I used to accept everyone, but a while after graduating high school, I realized I don't want anyone I don't care about or don't know on my facebook. And there were people I didn't know, those people who just request you because you have a mutual friend or two. So I went through and deleted a bunch of people, and I feel my facebook is better because of it. Now the only statuses that show up are ones I actually want to read, and I don't have to go through and hide a bunch of people.

I feel like if I don't have much in common with someone and we never interact, it's pointless to let their status updates clutter my wall. I keep my Facebook friends pretty close.

I hide people from my News Feed, but I usually don't defriend anyone. I have thought about it before but always decide "what if they randomly want to contact me for some reason in the future??" and don't go through with it. If I hide them, they still have that option, AND I don't have to read their statuses and stuff.
