My view: Disagree. It seems to me that Sony was attacked for some other purpose, possibly for the lulz.

While obviously the hackers were the ones ultimately to blame for what happened, from what I understand, Sony was irresponsible in safeguarding users' information. It's like if someone robbed a bank, but then you found out the bank routinely left everything unlocked. Yes, the robbers are the criminals, but the bank's irresponsibility facilitated the theft.
It was to be expected if THAT was the best security they could put up.

Based on the wording I'd have to say Agree. if it was all of Sony's fault, or even mostly, I'd disagree. But to say it didn't have a small portion to do with it is foolish.
Depends how you define fault. The way I see it, it was both Sony and the hackers' fault, because they were both responsible for the events that took place.
Another way to see it is that if the hackers didn't attempt to hack in the first place, there would have been no problem, therefore it is only the hackers' fault.

It's really offensive that you would equate victims of domestic violence with irresponsible corporations.
Sony is NOT the victim in the hacking situation. The people whose information was stolen are.
If you want to make a domestic violence comparison here, it's like the hackers are the abusive husband, the users are the battered wife, and Sony is the police officer who was supposed to be keeping an eye on her but got drunk and fell asleep.
I don't feel like we have enough info to judge this. On one hand Anonymous is generally thought of as script kiddies, but on the other hand Sony may have just had bad luck in choosing a security team rather than, say, hiring the cheapest one available.

Yeah. Take unlicensed code on, well, the PS3. It took them ages to find a workaround. Maybe it's possible given enough time, but that's basically just the infinite monkeys on typewriters effect.
