Machinarium isn't that bad. To be honest I never quite understood all the praise it got, but it is an alright point'n'clicky game. My biggest beef is that some of the puzzles are just impossibly hard without a guide of sorts, or just dumb luck in a few cases.

Machinarium's entire selling point is the puzzles, which range from uninspired to moronically difficult

there wasn't a single puzzle in the game that I derived satisfaction from beating

I was really immersed in the world. Graphics helped, but it wasn't just that: the music was fitting, every new screen was filled with life, the story was nice and appropriately sparse, the developers did a great job communicating simple and complex ideas to the player without words, the puzzles were mostly satisfying, etc. There wasn't an aspect of the game I didn't enjoy.

People should buy the bundle and play it. Experiences may vary, but I do think it's a game everyone should play. No excuse with how cheap it is right now, either!

i played vvvvvvv last night for the first time and i played till i got to a point where i died about 100 times and i decided that i was done with the game.

that's vvvvvv. you walk away from the game for a bit, come back to it, and easily pass the point you were frustrated at. it's a bit like super meat boy -- you're going to die, and die often, but the developers know this and so death is both very forgiving and something you come back from quickly.

I had to jump down a screen and while falling avoid spikes in multiple locations, land on the floor (2 screens down) and then take it back up and avoid the same spikes again just to get across a small batch of spikes on the original screen i started on. I almost broke something last night.
