I think the people that bash Nintendo the most are their biggest fans. Everybody loved the NES, and SNES. People feel like Nintendo betrayed them for the sake of gaining more casual players. At least that's how I feel, and how I always saw it. They used to make great games.

this is true, I still respect what nintendo was until 2004, they're just a hideous shell of that now unfortunately

Agreed. I was a big Nintendo fan during the first couple of years of the Wii's life. But after beating SMG2 when it released, my Wii has collected so much dust that it turned gray. I don't mind the casual games, but for a billion dollar plus company, they better be pumping out some games for me to play.

You poorly misrepresented the story in yet another shot at a company you feel betrayed you and/or murdered your family. Reggie is one -- admittedly very valuable -- part of a very large corporation; everything he says cannot be directly tied back to his employer. In the months after the 3DS launch, Reggie said he had a lot of fun with Steel Diver and thinks it offers more value than many games available on iOS. If you were talking about that story, you might have said "Nintendo slams Apple, believes launch line-up is better than entire iOS catalogue" or something.

There are certainly times when you can attribute Reggie's words to Nintendo's company policy. A casual interview with him in which he says one of the issues is that Nintendo overestimated the public's demand for and value of third party software is not one you can say 'Nintendo is blaming third party developers for the poor response to the 3DS.'

It's fine to be critical, it's something else to hate universally. People tend to get dumb around here when they feel wronged.

I don't universally hate Nintendo. I just hate the fact that they're going to go through this next console generation the exact same way they went through this one, leaving me without a Nintendo console for the first time since the NES came out.

I know they have a chance to change everything and become a great console, but after getting screwed over with the Wii, I'm not going to trust anything they say or any sort of hype until it's proven that they will be equally as good as Microsoft/Sony.

Just get one after it becomes cheap then. There's no reason to swear off everything they touch, unless you're no longer a fan. It's best to adjust your expectations. Nintendo will never be the go to console for third-party games, they aren't going to emphasis major technological and multimedia features, and it'll take some time for them to have a competitive online service. Nintendo systems are always good for Nintendo games, but not a whole lot else. It has been that way since the mid-90s!

For the record, I've posted in two topics Soul all year, and he's completely side-stepped any points I've made. He's right to question why I bother though! If you're going to ignore rational discussion in topics you make in order to further pursue a hateful agenda, why bother?

Really? From what I gathered last topic, you were still upset that I called out the Canucks (one topic), called the NDP worthless (two topics), made a lot of good points on what Nintendo needed to do in order to succeed next gen (third), called out that guy who called me an idiot (fourth), and now this one. The only time I even remember arguing with you was in the Nintendo topic last week, where you outlined all of your previous posts about all those topics. I responded soon afterwords calling you a liar and argued every one of my points to you. You ran away from that topic, completely ignoring everything I said. I am choosing to ignore your points in this topic because I know as soon as I answer, you're going to run away and repeat the same BS next week in my next topic.

So it's "random garbage" to point out how mind-blowingly deceptive and biased you were with your original post? Cool beans.

Reggie is right though, a huge reason for the 3DS weak launch was no Nintendo games. Everyone already knows you buy a Nintendo console to play Nintendo games, and they launched this thing with no Nintendo games.

No, just pointless to argue with him because he's unable to do so.

But no, you're right. Reggie -- and I see you eventually attributed everything he said to just 'Nintendo' -- solely blames the third party developers for Nintendo's failings.

I called Reggie "Nintendo" once before that post. Nitpicking. And like I said earlier, he is in charge of Nintendo of America. He represents Nintendo on this side of the planet, so calling him "Nintendo" is not out of line for anything he says.

Also, I never once said that 3rd parties are solely to blame for the 3DS. You're putting words in my mouth like you always seem to do. The only reason I made this topic is to show that with one of Nintendo's biggest weaknesses is dealing with third parties, you don't want to go around and blame them for your portable's failures. Instead of saying it's their fault, you should work together with them and try to lure them to your portable.

Damn right everything he says can be tied back to Nintendo. He is Nintendo. He has actual power in that company. He can choose whatever game he wants to hold back or release in this country, and I'm damn sure he has some control over the hardware aspects of Nintendo as well. He may not be the head boss, but he's close enough to it that it doesn't matter. Your little example doesn't mean ****, btw.

Again, it's one of the reasons that Reggie said. Never said it was the only reason. The interview being casual makes no difference.
