1. In this contest, you only vote for a game if youve played both games in its match. Both games. This is important. 2. You have to have played them yourself, physically. Reading a Lets Play is not playing. Watching your friend or youtube is not playing. Disliking a genre is not playing. Playing the prequel/sequel is not playing. Youre the judge of how long you need to play a game before its fair to vote, but you probably shouldnt be voting for/against a 40-hour RPG if youve played the first 5 minutes. 3. All ports & remakes are grouped together. You can vote for RBY if youve only played FireRed. 4. Please vote honestly. There are plenty of contests where you can vote any way you want. The entire purpose of this contest is ruined if people dont honor the honor system. 5. In the event of a tiebreaker, the game with less C/D votes moves on. 6. One vote per person. Rallying is allowed if the people rallied also vote fairly and by the rules. Whichever game has more votes from people who have played both games (i.e. Choice A vs. Choice B) moves on. Matches last 24 hours.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask vs. Pokemon: Red/Blue/Yellow A. Ive played both. Vote: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask B. Ive played both. Vote: Pokemon: Red/Blue/Yellow C. I havent played The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. D. I havent played Pokemon: Red/Blue/Yellow. E. I havent played/don't like either one.
Nier vs. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare A. Ive played both. Vote: Nier B. Ive played both. Vote: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare C. I havent played Nier. D. I havent played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. E. I havent played/don't like either one.
First match is pretty hard. Both games I have quite a bit of respect for, but that are still a long ways from, say, my top 10. Last time I rated all the games I'd played, I think they ended up with exactly the same score, in fact. I suppose I got more in-depth into R/B/Y, and have replayed it much more recently than MM.

Well, I HAVE played Nier for five hours or so, but I know it isn't fair to judge a story based game when I haven't seen much of the story. Really need to get to playing that.

I havent played Super Mario World. [31] D. I havent played Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. [1] E. I havent played/don't like either one.
Heroes of Might & Magic III Complete vs. Shadow of the Colossus [7] A. Ive played both. Vote: Heroes of Might & Magic III Complete [0] B. Ive played both. Vote: Shadow of the Colossus [22] C. Oh, here we go. First day with a major upset, and we've got two of them. Both SMW and SotC never had control of either match - in fact, the 1 person who voted for SotC initially switched his vote later. Just goes to show you that in this contest, anything goes.
Also, I find it funny that I was the only vote for SotC until I changed it. I'm curious how many of those 22 C votes would have voted for SotC if they had played both.

considering board 8's lack of integrity outside this contest I would assume almost all of them

He said 'if they had played both' not 'if this was a normal contest setting and they could vote for games they hadn't played'.
It's an interesting question that's been posed before. Some games in this contest are going to have an advantage because only the people that already really like those sort of games will have sought them out. If everyone in that match had played both games, you can't say HoM&M3 wins with any degree of confidence.

I can see that being the case with visual novels or bullet hell loli shooters (even though that lost), but I'm not sure it applies to HoMaM3. I'm actually not a big fan of turn based strategy in general, HoMaM3 is the only one I'd even put in my top 100, yet I love the game to death. I'd lump it in with games like System Shock 2 and Star Control 2 as a game that resonates with most people who play it, but just doesn't get much attention on B8.
