I don't honestly feel there are all that many people that would vote for Sephy or Tifa over Cloud, hence Sephy losing to Kirby in his Link/Cloud/Kirby 4 way match, so no, Link's got it in the bag.

K, poor wording on my part. What I mean is, most people wouldn't vote for another FF7 character who wouldn't have voted for Cloud if he were an option. A few votes squeak by, but at the end of the day, I'd say Link could still take them because Cloud's 45% or whatever he's pulling these days just gets spread out amongst the others.

I don't think Link breaks 50% if everyone is an option individually even without Seph there. But I think it's possible if there's only two options. It's hard to see Link losing a 1v1 poll, even if the other "1" contains multiple characters.

People also hate characters.
Even if someone loved Tifa and Barret, but decided that Yuffie, Cait Sith, and Vincent were all terrible characters, they might still vote Link. It's not as simple as adding the fanbases of lesser characters. ... Copied to Clipboard!

You don't think so? I don't think we've ever seen anything more than 4 poll options in a picture poll. If it's suddenly a 10-way, it'll catch people's attention and they'll wonder what's up. They see Link. They see nine others from the same game. They'll get it. Throw Cloud against Mario/Luigi/Bowser/Peach/Toad/Wario/Waluigi and it'll be the same thing, although Mario crew would probably win that one because that's just how Nintendo vs Square goes these days.

I thought what Yoblazer was pointing out was that favorite votes have as much relevance on GameFAQs contests as board 8 contests have on GameFAQs contests. Mario isn't the favorite in his own series according to favorites polls, but that doesn't hold up in real contests.

Cloud should be able to do it. There aren't many strong Zelda characters after Link. As for Link, he's not strong enough to do it normally, but if we put 9 FFVII characters against Link in a poll, it will be readily apparent that the whole point of the poll is to set Link a challenge against his greatest rival, FFVII. That will be considered more than just "pick your favorite character."
And for example, if the poll was Link vs. every Square character individually, I'd probably vote for Link, even though I like Crono way more. At some point adding more characters on FFVII's side just makes Link appear to be the underdog, which will help him. -- 90s games > 00s games ... Copied to Clipboard!
