aw man, chrome crashed while i was typing something up, so lemme bullet point it
From: KimPilgrim | #040 Apparently we have different qualifications for terrible, because the stuff you just listed say "bad comic" to me.
I was arguing more against myself to emphasize that, despite all these flaws, it's not a bad book. here's what I like:
- Maleev's pencils. His Moon Knight is confused, lacks definition, and colour, and it stands out even more against the very detailed and realized LA nights. it's a perfect take on a character as troubled and desperate to establish himself in a new city as Moon Knight is. - Moon Knight and Echo. they play off each other well. sure, it's a dynamic that Bendis has used before with street level characters, but he does it well. usually. - Spector is occasionally charming. Bendis might be forcing it at times, but it works as often as it fails. - I am not terribly against Spector's new brain buddies, the Avengers. I don't think Bendis done a great job establishing how crazy Spector is -- he probably should have abandoned establishing Moon Knight's supporting cast all together in an effort to further this point, but hey, like I said, this is C level stuff and there are going to be gripes -- but it has potential to lead to an interesting fall. Bendis will probably take forever to get there, though.
I'm on the verge of dropping this book. I'm waiting to see what kind of antagonist Bendis brings in before I do; he hasn't really done too much on that end. Like I said, it's not terrible. It's superfluous. If I had less money or if Maleev wasn't on art I'd drop it in an instant, but I'm willing to give it two more issues and see it if improves.

I decided to watch an episode Batman: The Brave and the Bold on a whim while you guys were all doing whatever. I'd never seen it before aside from vaguely watching an episode with the Metal Men and having no idea what was going on. That was before I read 52, too, so I didn't even know they were actual characters.
It turned out to be the last episode (whoops), but it opened with Batman going back in time to save Abraham Lincoln by fighting John Wilkes Booth in a steampunk mech suit.
And the rest of the episode was amazing, and written by Paul Dini.
I think I need to watch this show.

From: KimPilgrim | #044 I don't like Bendis but I'm not going to go EXTREME HATIN' like Halo with Bendis and Huntress.
You can't give the guy a 1 in a world with Adam Glass and Felicia Henderson and DC JMS and Marvel Loeb.
Alright, good point. However, I could argue that I would give all of those writers a 0/5, and then it's fair.
I mean I know it seems I'm hating on Bendis for no reason, but trust me, I have reasons. I've tried reading tons of his stuff, and all of it just sucks. I have not enjoyed a single thing ever written by him, not even Ultimate Spider-Man, and I gave it a fair shot too.
I'm still needing confirmation that the comparison pic you posted is indeed from his Daredevil run, because I can't believe that's actually considered a good run if it's like that.

OH MY GOD are you guys reading comics just to see how fast you can read them?
I mean, I know that there is a such thing as being gratuitously verbose and a lot of it is subjective but you guys seem to be under the impression that fewer words = better writing.

Right, like LtM mentioned about Snyder, his last issue was full of word bubbles, but the words were actually NECESSARY. They weren't just drawing s*** out like Bendis does. Good stories don't consist of a paragraph or two that could easily be condensed into one sentence, that's just obnoxious and boring.
And that's not even the worst thing Bendis does. He can't tell characters apart, several of them will talk the same way another character does, and they'll often repeat what the other character said a few times before getting to any sort of point, usually being none.
"Is that a thing now?"
"Yeah, I guess it's a thing now."
"So it's definitely a thing now."
I'm exaggerating, as usual, but the point is viable and stands.

I honestly can't fathom what it would be like for that page to be "intolerable."
Again, I'm saying this from the outside in, but from all the Bullseye I've seen, that dialogue is nothing like him at all. It's like Wolverine giving a speech on aerodynamics.
But, hey, I guess that just falls into the trappings of every character Bendis writes recently sounding exactly the same to the point where you could switch around word bubbles and barely notice.
Btw Anri, make sure you have TTI off, because one of my accounts has a picture of a Black Widow spider in its sig rotation (the other two images being Black Widow comics version, and Spidey).
This whole switching between accounts thing is getting kind of annoying though, but it's just a couple mouse clicks, so maybe I'll be able to carry on for this whole topic.

The show's pretty variable in quality. Mayhem of the Music Meister was amazing, but a few episodes (like the one featuring Uncle Sam) were painful to watch.
Hey LTM, you read all of Stormwatch and The Authority, right? How many issues were those, exactly? And would it even be worth reading before it becomes part of the new DCU?

From: Princess Anri | #024 Did you at least like the Oral History backups they used to do?
Didn't read those. Don't even remember seeing them, honestly!
From: Princess Anri | #025 Marvel is not a viewpoint.
The only viewpoint in discussion here is "Bendis is underrated". And I say I have not liked much of his work but I have read a lot of it. I haven't read Daredevil, but I'll try it eventually, but the entire concept behind the run of Daredevil having a ****ty life doesn't appeal to me at all. He ****ed up JMS's Thor run with Siege. Apparently he completely ruined The Sentry and The Hood from their original appearances, I can't speak to that, but considering his habit of not giving 2 ****s about what people before him wrote I wouldn't be surprised. USM is fine about a dozen issues in but not that great. What little bits of Dark Avengers I've seen from crossing over with other books doesn't interest me at all.
Unless Spider Woman saves the day my opinion of the man is not likely to change, and I don't see how that's "not accepting others viewpoints". What viewpoint am I not accepting. That he's underrated? He's one of the most famous writers in comic books. Hell, based on how popular he is and the worship he receives, you admitting ONE of his books sucks makes him overrated!
