96 had DKC3, SMRPG, and Super Mario 64!

Well for me 1994 has Final Fantasy VI and Super Metroid, while 1998 only has StarCraft. Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Xenogears are all waiting in the wings for me, so we'll take a look at this again later...

Disagree; probably going to have to go with '96 for SM64, Pokémon (in Japan, anyway), DKC3, and FE4. A few other underrated gems that year, too, but those are the important ones.

Although 1997's pretty good, too. MK64 (though you could count that towards 1996 as well based on Japanese release date), Star Fox 64, Goldeneye 007, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Diddy Kong Racing, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tales of Destiny...hmm, now that I think about it, maybe 1997 was the best! But regardless, 1996-1998 was an amazing three-year stretch.
