Board 8 > Super Mario World and LttP are the best games in the world

at least in my opinion. I like pretty much every mario game but smw is just incredible and I play it once every couple of months. LttP is great and I never really got into 3d LoZ games.

I liked Link's Awakening and Zelda 1 better than LttP, but SMW is the best Mario game.

And I would put Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger above them, and that's without going beyond the SNES. But they are both excellent games.

They are definitely classics and highly representative of their series, justifiably referenced in the following generations of games and media surrounding them...

But best games ever? I wouldn't go that far. Top tier stuffs? Maybe

Both of these games are part of my "circle of awesomeness", which contains 15 other games which I consider all-time favorites, would defend them to the death, and hand each of them perfect scores based on a rating with increments of .5.

A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game, and the only other Zelda I'd even consider over it, believe it or not, is The Wind Waker. However it is #7 on my list.

Super Mario World is my #15 and is behind four other main Mario platformers (namely SMB3 at #3, SMG2 at #5, SMG1 at #6, and SM64 at #12).

I feel like both series went down after the 2d era, but the mario games remained solid. To me the zelda games became a disappointment after lttp, but I would still consider the 3d ones good games. they just dont live up to the originals imo.

LttP is my #1 game of all time. I would give it a 10.0 on a scale with increments of .00001. Believe it or not, the only other games I think are as good as LttP are Sonic 3 & Knuckles (my #2 best game of all time), Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (my #3 best game of all time) and Bust-A-Move (my #19 best game of all time).

Super Mario World is my favorite Mario game except for Mario 3 (my # 8 best game of all time) but I do not think it is as good Donkey Kong Country which I would defend to the death. Do you find that ironic?

And while I haven't exactly played it, Resident Evil 3 is my #5 best game of all time. Does that surprise you? Would it be better if I told you that my #6 best game of all time is Civilization IV? Gamerankings.com gave the Resident Evil games good scores and the box art looks encouraging. I will be playing Resident Evil 3 some time in the next two years and will be voting for it in every game contest until then.

I was simply making a point that I haven't played much of anything that is similar to R&C when I said that!

I identify MOM as the closest thing I've beaten to a MGS game or Half-Life 2 as well, FYI. It is a little embarrassing, I admit.
