Mixed feelings on that game for me. On the plus side - we won, and on a personal level, barring KBM, everyone I pushed for as scum was scum, and you can't really ask for much more than that. On the negative side, if that wasn't the most miserable game I've ever played in, I don't know what is.
I really don't like the current culture of mafia on Board 8 either i.e. forcing claims constantly. I've yet to see convincing evidence that it helps at all, outside of isolated examples. It used to be the case that you tried to get people lynched because they were probably scum, and you only relented if you were incredibly wrong and they claimed Cop/Doc. These days, you vote for people in order to get them to claim, as punishment for being scummy (if that), and then judge them based off of that claim.

the problem with this is that Chris thinks it's good and Chris is Chris which means he tends to get his way <_<
You do realize that when people stand up to that kind of bullying en masse, it tends to lose its power.
Granted I know a good portion of the playerbase likes to follow in Chris' footsteps because he's good, so the problem in the argument is self-evident.

I need time off to get school **** in order but when I do play in the future I'm just going to go through with not claiming until something goes wrong with it <_<
I'm thinking of doing a semi-open set up for godfather mafia, where people know that there's between x and y number of power roles and that they're potentially a/b/c, and the number of scum, etc.
It isn't just Chris, in fairness, although he's a very large proponent of it. It's also Spiral and Ulti, among others, and when you have a very vocal triumvirate adopting a philosophy, others follow; either in fear, laziness, or because they don't know any better. It isn't even necessarily a case of relenting, it's "the shutters are coming down, you either comply, or me and my group of peons lynch you".

Typically I tend to claim when I feel like I have to claim. I also like to do other things too, but I won't mention them because then my secret ways of playing mafia will be spilled. D:
Anyway, I know it's been a few pages but I never went through it so let's do this.
Three best games you've witnessed?
-Bible. High Risk Setup, had a fear that it could go awry if bad things occurred, but it didn't. I'm very pleased that others thought it was great too, as it had a great finish, good play from town, and I was just happy to see it.
-Dark Tower. Actually, upon thinking about it, this game was what got me into B8 Mafia. I was intrigued and thought it was cool, and decided to give it a go later on.
-Final Fantasy Tactics. I really liked playing this game, was probably my best game as a town player and this was despite the fact that I was a princess. Setup was chaotic and fun and I have to tip my hat to the scumteam for winning.
Three best wins?
Flavorless 2-Replaced a scum who claimed nurse and put the team on my back from it... somehow. Despite A Scum getting modkilled, Random Bomb, and damning evidence to my teammates saying that I had no chance.
Transformers 2-Probably won more because town failed then I succeeded, but I didn't get a single vote from a town player and barked a lot of orders that damaged town pretty badly Night Action wise.
Mass Effect-Ok I did absolutely nothing due to replacing in other then get recruited by Han but damn it the other two W's I have are FFX and Spyro >_<. (And I guess FF7 should count but damn you jdizzy.)
Three worst games or factions you've witnessed? (Don't include DNE or any game that never finished)
MVC2-You know it's pretty weird how despite the fact that SHM was pretty much banned entirely at this point he still managed to host a mafia game. >_>
DBZ3 Town-Pretty self explanatory. >_<
Transformers 2 Town-Two really dumb modkills, Lynching a strongman over the scumblocker, just really bad play all around.

Come on, you're listing Transformers 2 as a best win? It's good that you evaded suspicion and all, but it's not exactly impressive. I'd be more surprised if town was paying any attention to anything except the feet they were in the process of shooting themselves in.

I've done similar things in the past (claiming a false scum scan is about the same thing!) and would've won but the damn cop bailed him out. I'd totally try this if it seemed a viable option!

Also while I am here I thought Luis had a very poor Poker mafia, being honest. His over all logic of "man those town powers have to be lying" proved to be very faulty and its saving grace was I was there to stop it.
As for claiming, well, just don't claim if you don't want to. But in Poker it was meta'd by me extremely well with a couple of exceptions (now I know scum is stupid enough to counter me, good to know.)

Now hold up one minute. I never insisted that one of them had to be lying, I just mentioned the possibility of it, since it seemed like quite a lot of power, and I was worried that if I was right, no-one would address it after I no longer could. As it turns out it was the weak power that was lying, rather than the strong. At no point though, did I go after any of them for any considerable period. I said at the time that it wasn't the day for it. If I don't have you and Blade harassing me for no valid reason, and your cronies backing you up, people might have listened to me more and avoided a couple of those mislynches.
How was that "pressure"? I was sat there bemused because you were proclaiming me scum, whilst not particularly saying why, and yet people like plum were treating it as Gospel truth or something. Revenus was even worse.
Actual pressure in a mafia game I can deal with just fine. I can get irked by people but I don't crack.
To be fair Plum must have had his own issues with you because he went after me after I decided to let you drop for a little bit. Seriously, do you remember day two? I was all like "Eh I'll leave Luis alone for now" and Plum looked at me as if I had just betrayed everyone he had ever loved. Also if you recall I rebuked Revenus when it came to his tactics against you. I was pressuring you to see how you would react, do not equate what I do with what Revenus did because I outright told him that was unacceptable in topic.
Your examples suck.
