Are we able to submit two tickets?

No, but I'd imagine there's nothing against putting two ideas in the same ticket.

Come on best licensed game. At least it would lack a huge amount of predictability.

I don't get the love for 12 hour vs. 24 hours. The proportion of boring to entertaining matches stays the same. Great matches are made less great by the time limit, but boring matches aren't made less boring, they're just made shorter.

12 hours = 128 entrants = more variety = more chances for cool stuff happening = everyone's stuff gets a chance

I'm not as big of a fan of 12 hour matches because it kills big comebacks due to erasing the disparity between night and day. Yeah, we get some close wire-to-wire matches, but honestly, I doubt we have any less "wasted" time with boring matches with 12 hour matches as opposed to 24 hour matches.

But I like having 128 characters, and I am fully aware that a 128 character, 1-on-1, 24-hour contest would be overkill.

12 hours = 128 entrants = more variety = more chances for cool stuff happening = everyone's stuff gets a chance

Who cares about variety if they're not doing anything? Not a single one of the bottom seeds made it out of the second round in the past contest. I care way more about having an exciting match last 24 hours than seeing some random game no one cares about get blown out in the first round. Everyone's stuff gets a chance to be seen, but that doesn't mean it will do well. Just have exhibition matches or 12 hour matches to determine the the bottom seeds if 64 entrants is not enough. I do not want to give up the chance for the next Mario Vs. Crono, just because three people are dying to get some obscure adventure game character in. How is reflecting on the presence of a character in the contest as good as a 2,000 vote comeback?

And the more rounds you have the more likely it is that the same characters will make the same rounds year after year, since the more entrants they face decreases the chance that you might have a flukey character make the Sweet Sixteen or strong character go out early.

Yeah, you'd never see something like a Noble Niner losing in the first round in this format!

In the last character battle, didn't the 13-seeds that got in via the vote-in go like 3-1, with all of the first-round winners making the third round? That sounds like uh..a good thing if you want the strongest things in the contest?

Crono Vs. Yoshi still would have been very close!

And lower seeds winning two rounds only proves one more problem with the 12 hour format. Strong characters ala Mega Man X and Zelda not being snubbed potentially rob us of more interesting matches. Had John Price been someone just a little more popular, MMX's presence would have robbed us of a potentially close 4v5 match, and had Travis been a more popular 7 seed Zelda's presence would have robbed us a potentially close match against Altair. Now neither character that MMX/Zelda beat was popular enough to lose out on a close match, but it's easy to see where such a situation could arise.

Squall was the only 2 seed who actually got as far as he was supposed to go.

But I think the vote-ins actually helped get some decent lower seeds because they had to get voted in by the polls, so instead of getting something like Nathan Drake/Random obscure character only 50 people have heard of, we got Nathan Drake/The Boss.

So you're trying to say strong characters getting into the contest...is a bad thing?

If they're never going to be tested, then yes. Imagine if 2005 was 128 characters and Kefka/Vercetti were in a fourpack with a high end midcarder. We would have lost out on a close match between the two of them, and it's not like the character would have done anything interesting against Crono to make up for it.

Seeding, I agree, ruins a lot of good possible matches and runs. I think it would be unfair on the highest nominated characters non-Link characters if you scrapped it though - you'd likely get a 16-pack with 2-3 noble niners slaughtering each other at the start of the contest and someone like MMX making the SFs. The more I think about it, the more I think it could actually be quite cool to have a seedless character contest... hmm.

It's still doable without technically having seeding.

I could make a bracket of good matchups and pay no regard to seeding, too.
