And some people got it in their head that midboss was intentionally jobbing throughout every game he was in, and he secretly had some major powers never shown.

For reference to everyone who doesn't play disgaea, it's basically like saying ocelot would beat batman, because he never showed snake his TRUE strength

Didn't Midboss split / punch the planet in half out of depression?

Midboss isn't the same strength as his overlord counterpart. He's basically a ghost being kept in the physical world by the will of an angel.

^ I guess, still I would think Midboss is still pretty strong.

The mere fact that midboss has a power source is enough to make him fall to batman.

And just because the universe is overpowered doesn't make it's joke characters overpowered. You wouldn't have primly beating batman would you?

I sometimes think the only reason Batman ever wins any of these matches is because the people voting have never read Batman.

Batman's not a god, he's a man. I mean ****, he would lose to Booster Gold one on one.

Anyone with sufficient prep time can beat anyone else. Especially if they could study their opponents weaknesses. It doesn't take a genius to "prep" for a foe.

<nod> Laharl beats Superman and then people are all "Nah Bubbles is too fast she got to the moon in like a few seconds. Oh and she would go berserk or something"

Laharl can teleport to the moon as well (points to big bang) and Bubbles is very unlikely to go berserk especially fighting Laharl (she would probably glomp him rather than fight him first which would piss him off / annoy him)

Plus if you compare "Him" to an overlord "Him" clearly shows that he could stomp all three of the PPGs which makes the match even more "Wut?"
