...why Lucas?

Also, he hear he added Episode 3's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO" to the throne room scene in Episode 6. Ya know, the best f***ing scene in all six movies, the emotional climax of the saga, where the music and body language already told the story. Yeah, now ya get that corny melodramatic "NOOOOOOOOO" to go with it. Wheeee

This has to be a joke. I don't cry at every little change like most Star Wars fans without a life do, but there's no way he added in the "NOOOOOOO"

Well an update seems to lend further credence to it though, so the chances of it being incorrect are diminishing.

Looking forward to the special feature with the interview that discusses that change. Bold prediction:

GEORGE LUCAS: "Well uh, um, in the uh, in the picture, originally, the um, the scene with Vader was not... it didn't yet have in mind the uh, the picture from 2005 -- Episode III. Going back to the footage from the sixth film, or third in terms of release, the um, Jedi, I went ahead and inserted Vader's famous "no" from Episode III but at a slowed-down speed, it ties into the climax of the third film, Sith, insofar as to say that Vader's "no" of disbelief has become a "no" of redemption."

Yeah, the Obi-Wan thing really doesn't bother me that much. It still sucks because it's an important moment, and now it's impossible to take seriously because... well, I'm not going to bother with another comment about rape noises/homosexuality. I can live with it, though.

The "NOOOO" thing is unforgivable, though.

The krayyt dragon noise from the original movie sounded pretty silly too, honestly. This is worse but it's not like Lucas took a famous speech and replaced it with a dying walrus. He took a dying extraterrestrial and replaced it with a dying walrus is all.

I think the part I hate most is how he tries to justify all of this random stuff with outright lies. It's like... Lucas, we know that you didn't plan for the first three episodes to be so stupid when you first wrote up EP 4, because we also know that you originally didn't plan for anything past EP 4 at all. He's always been at Capcom levels of bad with his attempts to justify his stupidity with outright bs lol. I can see making a change to a series that makes it better but isn't exactly canon. Being able to say "You know, it isn't how I originally planned it but I think this works better." would be pretty enviable, actually.

Lucas is the opposite. He just makes everything worse and if anyone questions it, he lies and says that's how he planned for it to be 30+ years ago.

Lucas is a f***ing moron and he should have died years ago, before he got the chance to ruin his own god damn creation.

It really sucks that NO ONE at Lucasarts has the balls to stand up to him either, I can just imagine Lucas coming up with these stupid ideas and presenting them to the people that work for them, ALL of them are thinking that he's stupid and this idea is crap but none of them are brave enough to speak up.

What? Star Wars is my life, and I'm tired of how Lucas continues to ruin his own freaking creation. I'm glad he created it of course, but now he's just a terrible person. He should have left Star Wars in more capable hands instead of trying to take care of it himself. If he had died earlier, he would have been remembered as a hero. Now once he dies, most of us are going to say "good riddance, now maybe Star Wars will be handled properly."

Why are people so upset about this?

I mean, I thought the vader thing was funny and insignificant, it didn't bother me any

and this

like, I had no idea it was supposed to be a DRAGON call originally, and I didn't even know it was coming from Obi Wan at first until like the third watchthrough

compared to most Star Wars fans, I'm a step above casual, I love the series but I know nothing beyond what the movies portray

so I'm guessing they made the change to make it more identifiable on whats happening

Yes, Pun, people approved of the new Yoda.

People complain about these changes because they're totally unnecessary and stupid. Vader doesn't need to exclaim "NOOOO!" before grabbing the Emperor. The scene was more powerful without words.

Vader being silent while turning back to good was what made that scene powerful.

Just futher justifies keeping my original tapes on display in my room, they're seriously as good as it's going to get.

It's pretty sad that my crappy VHS recordings of the 1997 version of the OT are better than the upcoming Blu-Ray version. Of course having the original version of the OT would be still better, because then I wouldn't have to put up with Greedo shooting first.
