The Holy Grail War. A contest between seven mages, each of which summons a Servant to do battle for them. Each Servant is a heroic spirit, a hero from the past summoned to obtain the Holy Grail for their master. Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Berserker, Assassin. These seven Servants will decide the War.
After the shut down of the corrupted Holy Grail in Fukuki City, the Holy Grail War came to an end. Twenty years passed, and the world of magecraft advanced at breakneck pace. Not long after the end of the Holy Grail War, the greatest achievement of this age took place: the establishment of the floating city, Ceiyla Sanctum. Located above desolate Antarctica, it presents a place for magi to remove themselves from the world and pursue their research without fear of interference from the rest of the world.
Now, fifteen years after the city's establishment, thanks to frantic politicking on the parts of the Einzbern and other powerful families, the city has been chosen as the site for a new Holy Grail War. Bugs introduced into the old system have been corrected, and it is believed that this new War will provide the best opportunity to reach the great archives of the universe, Akasha.
Thus, powerful families of magi once again gathered to obtain the Holy Grail, that omnipotent vessel of power. On November 25th, 2031, the Sixth Holy Grail War began.
The two men crouched beyond a wall, listening closely for the sound of pursuit. Shouting was audible in the distance, but the chase seemed to have died down momentarily.
"How are we going to get out of here...? You've got something from the boss, right?" said the smaller of the two thieves.
"Yeah, I think. Hang on..." The other man stood up and took out a piece of paper with a design drawn on it and a marker of some kind. He looked at the paper for a moment, then hunched over and began drawing a circle with the marker. Once the circle was finished, he began marking symbols around the sides. Finally, he stood back up.
"All right, finished. Now, let's see... Give me the sword, then," the taller thief said. The other one looked around for a moment, then picked up a wrapped package leaning against a pillar and tossed it casually towards the other one. He put the package in the middle of the circle and began looking at the paper again.
Suddenly, the second thief jumped. "Hurry! I think the guards are heading our way! How do we get out of here?!"
"On it." Producing an engraved dagger, the first thief drew a cut in his arm, wincing slightly. Blood fell on the circle, and the runes and circle lit up, producing a slightly greenish glow. He then placed the package in the center of the circle, and stood to the side of it within the circle. The other thief also stepped within the circle.
The light began to intensify, as the sound of armor clanking also grew louder. The guards burst into the room just as the light reached its zenith. The circle burst and disappeared, returning the room to its normal state. In the center of the room, the two thieves lay, dead. And the prized item they had stolen was nowhere to be seen.
And, elsewhere...
"Yes! The most powerful Servant is now in our grasp."

1. Female 2. Master 3. Neutral alignment of any kind. (Lawful Neutral, Neutral Good, True Neutral, Neutral Evil, Chaotic Neutral) 4. Deny anyone who requests me as a partner, but only if their requests contradict mine.
I'll sign up since I'm sure everyone adores me and misses me in these things, I'd prefer to be a Servant but other then that I don't really have much preferences.

Requesting Team Saber if possible. Team Lancer second choice. Master or Servant doesn't matter to me. Alignment and partner don't matter either unless someone requests me for some reason.
Anyway, you guys can forget about updating the list, I shouldn't have expected it of you.

Scep is now writing the magical version of The Dark Knight.
I'm writing my own War so I can't join, but I can be an extra if needed.

Uh, I don't think that exactly excludes you from joining, unless the problem is one of time.

Yeah, it's time. Too much stuff to do and not enough time.
BTW, I just quickly read your rules: did you drop off the levelling up idea?
(It's nice having short rules. My rules are 17 pages long and growing. I seriously need to cut out a lot of stuff...)

This is True, not i+1. i+1 was postponed because I didn't feel like I could give it enough time in this state. i+1 is much more complex and interesting, and I expect it to be one of the best Wars ever, but it's not ready yet.

It's an RPG/strategy game. You're a team of two people; one of you controls a Master and the other a Servant, you both get different sheets outlining your abilities, and you go and try to kill everybody. No knowledge of the original is required.

Pirateking2000 posted... any idea what each does on the team etc
Honestly the two players don't have a lot of difference in their roles. Often one player will end up moving for both characters anyway due to time constraints and stuff.

Other than Archer sniping and Assassin sneaking (and even those aren't perfect), it's not actually that consistent. Or do you mean each player on any team? Nothing. You share all efforts.

There's always hope for better things in life. But you can't let anything, friend, lover, God himself, be your hope. You have to be your own hope.
You don't need to actually know the source material. In fact, pretty much everything F/SN and other series related is flavour.
There are going to be nine teams of two, and in order to win, you have to be the only remaining team.
When the game starts off, there usually is only a "Master" (Support person) and a "Servant" (Combat person). Sometimes the team can summon familiars, which usually are very weak helpers.
Servants go from Master to Master, but each Servant can only team up with one Master at a time. Each Master can have more than one Servant at a time.
Recently, there has been a surge of "alliances". Several teams group up in hopes of taking down individual teams, but be careful about who you trust as you might just get betrayed by the people who have your back.
Pirateking2000 posted... I mean are both the master and the servant classes (Saber Lancer or whatever all these are) or how does that work to determine abilities / moves etc?
That's flavor. Your abilities and moves are determined by the rules and the sheets I give you.

The Master is not the class, only the servant is the class. ie, Saber and her Master, Lancer and his master, etc etc
Usually the Servant archetypes tell you how the Servant operates. However, their have been Servants who have played against their type.
Sabers are average at everything. Nothing special but they don't completely suck at one thing either. Lancers are really fast and are hard to kill. Archers are relatively fast, have projectiles and can sometimes snipe. Casters have really strong attacks but really weak defenses Assassins are fast, can turn invisible and have tricks to avoid damage. Berserkers are really tough. Riders are fast and plenty of cool tricks.
One more, assuming pirateking hasn't yet signed up.
