It's ****ing great. Went into it expecting that it would be stupid as hell, ended up loving it.

To answer your question, I think it's only looked down upon so much because Comedy Central seems to show it at least once a month, sometimes multiple times in a week. It's a pretty good movie that's just way too overplayed.

I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it being one of the funniest movies I've ever seen and easily the best of David Spade. In fact he used to be one of my favorite actors because of Joe Dirt.

So I still remember it being a great movie. I need to watch it again.

It's a movie I think that's just pretty funny in itself, but becomes absolutely hilarious if you were raised in the South/around a bunch of white trash.

I've actually never seen Joe Dirt, but I imagine I'd like it because I like a lot of David Spade's stuff.

This is exactly what prompted the argument.

My friends (who I hadn't met yet when the movie came out obviously) were talking about how horrendous the Bucky Larson movie looks. I said it's possible that it will be hilarious because commercials made Joe Dirt look like the worst movie ever and it ended up being one of the funniest movies ever. They told me I was crazy because Joe Dirt is the worst movie ever.

I then made the exact same topic on the Movies board and they agreed with my friends unanimously.
