In my history class today we were talking about Mesopotamia and he gave us an assignment about the Gilgamesh Epic (not to actually read it, but an article on it), and I really became interested in actually reading it. So I'm wondering what translation you would recommend for an average college student. There are so many out there that I'd hate to pick up a crappy one and not even realize it. Thanks!

My copy is in a compilation called Myths From Mesopotamia, and I think it's the preferred version. Haven't read anything to compare it to though.

It's a pretty short read and pretty good. I think I read the penguin one but penguin sucks ass so it probably wasn't the best.

Yeah, the Penguin one is the first one that comes up on Amazon, and I just noticed it says, "The standard version," but basically what you said, I'm not exactly always completely satisfied with Penguin, and kinda wanted to get some opinions.
