-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet. -This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote. -BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted. -Rallying is allowed. Alts are not. -Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below). -Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started. -Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media. -You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead! -Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating. -Bracket Link, for viewing past results and future matches: http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?&tid=408528&tclass=

Poor Masked Man. He never stood a chance against Sarda, who not only annihilated him, forcing a mercy, but also scored the first shut-out of the contest. Better luck next time! Votals: 15-0.
(3) Admiral Kizaru
From One Piece, Borsalino, also known as Admiral Kizaru, is one of the leaders of the Marines and a powerful warrior. He possesses powers over light, which allow him to transform into energy, making objects pass through him and reconstructing his body from energy particles afterward. He is capable of moving and attacking at the speed of light, and all of his attacks are based on the element of light; such as firing energy blasts from his fingertips or feet with extreme precision. His power is very destructive, causing huge explosions and easily destroying buildings. He also has the ability to reflect himself, essentially moving from one location to the next at the speed of light. His weapon of choice is a blade made of pure light through his powers.
(6) Asuna Kagurazaka
From Mahou Sensei Negima, Asuna Kagurazaka is a middle-school student with a mysterious past. Asuna has the power of magic-canceling, which makes her immune to magic spells of all kinds, from love potions to incredibly powerful spells. Despite this, she can use magic combined with ki, a technique called kankaho.
Asuna can summon either a harisen or a sword, large and powerful weapons; she can wield the weapons with no difficulty. The harisen exorcises demons with a single strike, while the sword can cleave through rock and was once shown to counter multiple magical attacks.

Going with Kizaru. We're now a third of the way to a second mercy. Assuming other people don't have arguments to make for Asuna and the votes keep coming we could have four matches today.

And I never read one piece but aren't devil fruit powers caused by well, devils? At least I remember hearing the explanation that people could only have one devil fruit power because if they ate more than one the two devils would fight and kill the host.
and if they're actually devils well then they'd be exorcised with any contact with her attacks.
and I asked this a long time back in the bracket topic, but does Asuna get the Code of the Lifemaker? That would give her some degree of reality manipulation so it's kinda sorta important you know. >_>

The only certain death in the universe is Mother Hitton's Littul Kittons. Not changing this line until I beat Seven Heroes (2/24/07)
Bah, kept getting distracted and never actually made a writeup for Asuna. Anyway, I'm quite sure I recall the exact opposite of the current consensus being argued the last time Kizaru faced an FSN character. His supporters claimed his attacks were magic, and could thus bypass the immunity to mundane damage.

"magic" has very different definitions for Negima and F/SN though. I don't consider them magical like Negima would. However in a F/SN context I would consider them 'magical enough' to work on servants.

"intention doesn't matter? clearly your cashier degree did not require a law course." - ND to Joyrock on the legality of drinking a soda before paying
and yes, Kizaru can travel at light speed (literally) and then just use a regular attack.

No, that's just a rumor that the people of the world made up as an explanation. Right now it's a mystery as to what devil fruits are and how they grant powers.
Chances are it's a perfectly physical thing, as the sea can negate their powers. Material has been made that does the same thing, as does the use of haki, a form of energy that is inherent to all people, if not living things.

So what does happen if someone tries to eat two different devil fruits?

Answering the question about the latest powerup, no, she doesn't get it. Unresolved arcs aren't usable because you can't tell how things are going to go. Everything up to the previous arc is OK though, as are contained feats.

Also I have to say that magic in Negima isn't just some cheap way to say that cool stuff happens because that's why. It's exhaustively researched nearly every spell has an extensive description of both the mythology and the spell's effect in terms of real world science. Stuff like Rakan seeming to break out of Tamaki's pocket dimension by force of what seems like his sheer awesomeness? It actually has a two full page description of what he did to break free, going into detail about the physics of black holes and the differences between classical and modern models of geometry and physics. Basically he used a type of gravity magic to create a mini black hole by focusing a huge quantity of mass in one place, and the gravitational pull distorted the space inside the pocket dimension and its boundaries and Tamaki's artifact which operated under assumptions of classical geometry and physics couldn't work properly and shut down.
Furthermore, in Negima your typical fightan shonen chi stuff (like Ku Fei punching through mountains with chinese martial or Kaede making full density independently operating shadow clones with ninjitsu) is considered to be magic or at least is close enough to the same thing, just it was approached a different way. Training the body instead of memorizing spells, which is why it synergizes so well with the magic fighting style that the most powerful characters tend to train both physically and mentally, and you have techniques like the Kankho (or however it's spelled) to boost both physical ability and magic.
Even the achievements of science aren't that far removed from magic, when you think about Chachamaru being a combination of Evangeline's puppetry and doll animation magic, and Chao and Hakase's incredibly advanced android technology and AI programming. Magic, chi, science, they are all different means to get to the same ends.
So I personally don't think the "it doesn't count as magic" argument holds much water, if it's just a different sort of life energy/chi from a different series.

The magic world arc is over, technically. >_>
Though I would agree with not giving her it, since a new arc hasn't started yet and we wouldn't know what she would do with it or if she keeps it. I don't think it would make much difference anyway since I doubt it would be in her personality to use it in the same way that that Fate or the others in Cosmo Entelekheia did.

***Major Negima spoilers*** - - - - - - Asuna with Negi's help was able to land a blow on the Lifemaker who just wrecked Evangeline, Rakan and the rest of Ala Rubra. But the Lifemaker may or may not have let her hit him. Asuna has some degree of reality manipulation now. Maybe. She could use the Great Grand Master Key to send Kizaru's soul into an alternate universe. Probably. If the battle takes place in the Magic World where Asuna can use her full powers, she could just drop Kizaru on Mars.
