Which of these should I make a conscious effort to watch on Netflix (but ultimately get burned out on before finishing the first season)?

X-Files, since it was the only one of those three I didn't actively sleep through.

I'll give it to Buffy (best), but X-Files is a great show too. Not as consistent as Buffy over 9 seasons (in case you didn't hear, Mulder isn't on the show that much last two seasons).

You wouldn't like Charmed. The girls on that show are over 14.

Charmed is one of my favorite shows. Three seasons from the end it starts dropping in quality pretty quickly though. The last season feels like a spin-off.

Buffy. Then X-files. Then Charmed if you feel you must.

Buffy is awesome (you kind of have to put up with 90% of the first season being terrible to get to the awesome though). Also if you get to season 4 make sure to start watching Angel alongside it since there are cross overs (and Angel is also a good show).

X-Files is pretty okay too.

Well the skirts she wears in season 1 are enough to make me enjoy it.

I love Charmed, but it's not the kind of show anyone would enjoy I guess, it's kind of "cheesy" at times. Besides, the final season and the ending felt really forced.

Buffy is a show I liked a tad bit less but I'd feel more comfortable recommending, it's very enjoyable. Never got to see more than single episodes of X-Files.

I still haven't decided.

I did watch another episode of X Files, though, episode 4.

I was amazed how the episode ended with him saying "I want to believe." He's talking about his sister disappearing/being abducted.

So is that what the movie they made a few years ago is about? Harkening back to this line way back in the beginning of the show? That's amazing if it is. I had just assumed it was Scully, who after all these years "wants to believe," but still can't until she is abducted herself, or something.

X-Files is the best. It's a great show.

"I Want To Believe" is just a tagline for the series that obviously crosses over into Mulder's psyche too.

For the record, X-Files gets great in a season or two. At first it's good but not amazing.

"I Want To Believe" is the shows tagline; pretty prevalent in pop culture (well, especially during the 90s). One of the taglines at least, probably not as much as "The Truth Is Out There" I guess. If you watch the show you'll note the line you're referring to is on a poster in Mulder's office of a UFO, where on it the line is written out.

X-Files is the most acclaimed of the shows I think, and in my opinion it is the best television show of all time. No show is without its faults, but for a good chunk of its run it is a wonderful show. It's not even a bad show without Mulder, though obviously it isn't as good or anything, but I'd still rank it above these other two even through seasons 8 and 9.

I haven't seen X-Files or Charmed, but I have seen Buffy and Angel. Both are great shows. Many will claim that Angel is the better show, but that's only true when comparing it to seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy, where the plot and characters get a little... ehhhhhhhh. Not to say that seasons 6 and 7 are bad (even if they were bad, Once More With Feeling would completely make up for it), though.

No, Buffy clearly is. Not that The X-Files isn't highly acclaimed as well,. You're just more likely to find people who say Buffy is the better show. Both are two of my favorites. I grew up watching The X-Files so there's a lot of nostalgia for me but even then it still holds up.

The way I see it, Angel is more consistent but Buffy has better highs when it does hit them.
