Just discovered visual snow isn't a common thing, mind = blown.

Been seeing it as far back as I can remember, so always assumed it was just normal.

In case people don't know what visual snow is, it's kind of like seeing "static" everywhere. I mainly only really notice it if I think about it, or primarily when looking at a mostly white or mostly black background. Its pretty much present when looking at anything, just less noticeable when there are a variety of colors, and generally colors tend to cover it up better than black, white, and grays.

Now it just feels really strange to know that I shouldn't be seeing that...

I'm generally pretty hydrated.

It increases in intensity when I'm tired or when I have a headache, otherwise it's always just kind of 'there'.

I get it after swimming in a chlorinated pool.

Or maybe that's just blur.

I don't know.

I occasionally get these drifting white sparks. It happens more often when I'm tired. They generally go away in around a minute, though.

That's kind of how I felt after I found out I needed glasses. I always thought that things were simply supposed to get blurry after a certain distance. Boy was I surprised when I found out how the world was really supposed to look...

Um what.

Snow is clearly visible wherever it snows everywhere I've lived.

Static kind of describes it.

It's more like seeing white noise. I can't focus on it or anything like that.

It's like seeing a bunch of tiny white particles in the air...that's really the best I can describe it.

I see green particles all over the place when I look in the sky on a clear day, but a trip to wiki shows me that's not at all what this is. >_>

Holy hell, I get that from time to time. Didn't know it was common enough to have an official term.

I've never gotten/experienced it.

My mom always complains about it, but she suffers from migraines, and usually when she gets it, she gets a migraine in the near future.

yeah, i can see it often too

a related condition is that of visual noise, a form of closed eye hallucination

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed-eye_hallucination

you can train yourself to see and manipulate this random noise with meditation and the like. alternatively drugs >_>;;

me too, then i stumbled upon that a couple years back. i would like to reach level 4, but haven't really been doing much in the way of training myself towards that goal.

there is also the fear of going to far and dipping into level 5 and going insane. but imaginary reality manipulation...the possibilities o_o

Never had visual snow as far as I can tell, but it was kinda a shock the difference between not having glasses and having them. Didn't even think about it until over halfway through high school.

Always had trouble recognizing faces from any sort of distance like 15 or more yards away, and projectors were always really blurry to me. Then turns out I put glasses on, and suddenly I could identify more than colors/shapes from a distance, I could actually see tiny details.

Never had it.

Does anyone else have floaters?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater

I started seeing them last year, and it completely freaked me out until I learned a lot of people have them, sometimes for their entire lives. I've gotten used to them now.

that is an affirmative on floaters too...

not in a severe fashion (if a bunch suddenly appear it can be a sign of a retinal detachment and that is bad news), but yeah, they're present, more noticeable on a blue sky or just waking up for me.

I have the "visual snow" thing in my right eye fairly badly, I wore glasses for a few years on two separate occasions but it never really helped all that much, cleared things up a tad but it feels like I've adjusted to it already and mostly only see the world through my left eye unless I close it. It's a bit tough and uncomfortable to even try to read this topic with just my right eye.
