Honestly though, I actually like this update. It's the only good one FB's done in ages.

That is really the only fault... the title bar is too blue compared to before, but that is an acceptable change. The news ticker is pointless and over-stalkerish but that's fine too.

Facebook updates are traditionally worse than the previous version.

Facebook is just a social experiment to see how crappy they can make it and still be the only social network anyone uses.

I used to get updates from people who's pages I'd check or IM.. but now I get posts from EVERYONE

basically this, after killing a ton of crap that's popped up i still can't see how to sort chronologically. it's truly amazing how every facebook redesign for the last 5 years has made things worse

I feel like people say this every time, and then get used to it within a week.

Anyway, to sort things chronologically, anything in the Top Stories list (The first section of your news feed) needs to have the blue triangle in the top left clicked. Do whatever it says to stop having it be a top story, and then bam, you're back to normal.

Yeah, I kind of like having everything on one page instead of having to click back and forth between two pages to read all the updates, because for some reason, if it's part of "Top Stories," it doesn't seem to get included in a News Feed.

And I just realized this a couple weeks ago, so there went a long period of time of not getting a bunch of friends' updates, whoo.

i don't get how you can defend the updates by saying people get used to them.

Why should we have to constantly get used to new layouts that are not inherently better.

Sure if it was an improvement, but they are usually just different.

I do not want to see everything my friends are doing?

Too much going on on my screen at once for a site I want to spend less than a minute on per day. With my incredibly small amount of Facebook use, I don't have time to figure all these "updates" out.

The interface isn't an improvement for users, but it is for developers, since the news ticker will show applications that people are using. Before no one would see them and they were having a hard time generating revenue.

When it comes to users (who will stay even if they complain) and developers, which do you think facebook thinks is more important?

It all looks really dumb, but that's about it. At least they brought back the option for seeing more updates from specific people. It's stupid that they took it away in the first place... but whatever.
