I asked what she meant, and she told me it was obvious he was the one that did it and to just get it over with.

It really bugs me when people say stuff like this. I can't comprehend what kind of thought process they go through to be able to say something like that with such certainty.

After she said that, she started rambling on about the case and all the circumstantial evidence, but I was late, and had to hurry up or I was afraid I wouldn't make it in time, so I wasn't really paying attention. The only thing I got out of it was that she had definitely read up on the case, which is more than I'm willing to do.

I've played this exact scenario in LA Noire and I'm pretty sure Davis didn't do it... damn you Cole!

I'm not sure of his guilt or innocence, as I didn't follow his trial (It was 20 years ago I believe.)

But if I'm not mistaken -- didn't a judge dismiss six of the seven recants?

he did. Some say its because "there was too much pressure on leftist organizations to recant", but tbh there is just as much argument that the testimonies were forced because they wanted to get somebody behind bars on this.

Decided to root around a bit. It seems Davis already received an exceptional review of his case by a federal judge (NOT the one who initially presided) and had his case shot to pieces in a 170-page ruling. It doesn't make his innocence an impossibility but it certainly shows that the one-sided position taken by his advocates is misguided.

all i can say is that you'd think by the 21st century we'd be advanced enough as a civilization to not murder people as a punishment

Considering half of society has essentially no qualms about abortion I have no idea why you "would think" that the death penalty is so shocking.
