A decent game overall, but some of the levels and challenges are just insanely unfair and frustrating.

When compared to 2 and 3, the game is an absolute mess.

I love everything about the first game until Pandora's Temple. Then it just plummets in quality.

But yeah, 2 and 3 are masterpieces.

There were a couple annoying parts before that, but yeah, Pandora's Temple was the worst.

(Although Minotaur was pretty awesome as a boss)

I wouldn't say that. The design is pretty good. I like the puzzles and stuff, and I actually like Pandora's Temple and onwards better. it's just not that great a game.

Not very interesting after the first 2 hours. God of War 2 is where it's at.

I don't have much of a problem with any of the puzzles, how are they frustrating and unfair?

Most of them aren't so bad, although the one with pushing the block around the corner before the spikes come up is just hell. Has, what, somewhere between a half and a full second of leniency?

However, some of the level design is AWFUL, and some of the battles are outright unfair.

Go tell me that the Blades of Hades section is fair. Please.

Yeah all the puzzles are pretty easy once you get the hang of them. I admit, that spike puzzle was the first that came to mind when you mentioned frustrating, but I have no issue completing it nowadays, it's actually kinda fun.

I think the game is very well designed, honestly.

Which part was the Blades of Hades section?

Jumping over the spinning bars full of sawblades while walking along railings over the challenge of Hades.

Or there's the part where you have blades crisscrossing the room and you have to pull two switches then jump through a door, and it requires not just a perfect run but luck in having the blades moving with the right timing.

Or there's the section where you have to fight a bunch of enemies before the floor drops out from under you, but they add in a bunch of enemies you've never encountered before with shields that can only be broken with a specific attack, whom are never seen again, and you're never given any hint as to how to break the shield.

Oh and the fight against Hades is terrible. It's simple, so they compensate by having him do disgusting amounts of damage(if you screw up one of his attacks can take off around half your health in one go) making it frustrating to learn the patterns.

And then you go and fight the swarm of your clones, the most annoyingly unfair fight in the game.

I am really awful at games like God of War, but I had seriously no problems with difficulty in the first game, and actually found it to be pretty easy.

Now the second game... that game had some questionable sequences.

Nothing else is that bad though.

What? The yellow shield? We see those guys in Athens, where it tells you to use the Square, Square, Triangle combo to break their shields, and they're in the game a lot.

That's what I thought you were talking about, and I had no problem. The camera angles itself above you, so it's easy to line up your jumps.

And the part where you have to pull the two levers in the saw room is pretty easy, you just have to bum rush and you can pretty much jump over the saw blades too.

Huh, I didn't remember them being in there earlier. They aren't in the game a lot though, now that I think of it though, there is one(and only one) scene that you see them after that, late in the game.

Still a frustrating level though!

This part is fairly easy. Just jump over them. I have never heard of anyone having trouble here.

Or there's the section where you have to fight a bunch of enemies before the floor drops out from under you, but they add in a bunch of enemies you've never encountered before with shields that can only be broken with a specific attack, whom are never seen again, and you're never given any hint as to how to break the shield.

Those are just shielded enemies - same as the ones you fight in Athens. You learn that plume destroys the shield. So really you should just pay attention. All the enemies there are seen throughout the game.

They aren't common <.<;

At least past the dropping floor(which is about midway) they're used once, and rarely before that too.

I took a break from playing a little after starting for awhile, and just finished it over the last couple days, so I didn't remember them from the beginning.

hmm. I found that part easy >_>.
I just remembered about a part where you had to pull a switch then move a crate to the other side and jump on a ledge before the spikes shot up from the ground. Took me forever. Apparently you get way less time in the HD version, so maybe that was why it was so hard.

Hah, Oh man. This topic just made me want to finish GoW3 so bad. You ever have one of those games where you manage to get right to the end but can't manage to finish it? Don't know why but for the life of me I couldn't beat that one Zeus fight, in this video (obvious spoilers):

I quit, for the longest time, played other games and just forgot about it. I'm gonna pop it back in now though, I'm gonna finish this game!
