SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

Yeah, I would like team names, but that's not going to happen.

Anyway, I will pick Link /Ganondorf, but I honestly do think that Cloud / Sephiroth has a very real chances of winning this, better than Cloud in a 1v1 environment at least.

I don't even want this to be a full 2-month contest. If we get 128 entrants, that's 256 individual characters. I shudder at the thought of all the terrible fodder characters we're going too get.

Some people claim that 128 contests have too much fodder, this will be so much worse.

64-team bracket sounds good to me. I don't think you need more than that for this type of contest, because you still end up with 128 different characters that way. Also, round 1 matches being 12-hour affairs should be a new rule for all contests, I think.

I had the idea of shortening round 1 to 12 hours, just incase Bacon can't get the contest started in time to avoid having this contest interfere with the Christmas break. I know Ngamer liked the idea I came up with.

As for the Link/Ganondorf vs Cloud/Sephiroth debate..

...I'm still sticking wtih Link/Ganondorf. If we're talking about finlas when the typical user is sick of FF7, and it comes down to Nintendo vs Square (FF7 has been declining for a long time now), I'm going to trust Link to be that near dominant on this site.

I tried to think like some of you guys when it came to Zelda vs FF in the series contest, and while it was close in 2006, It definitely wouldn't be close today.

While it would be closer than a direct Link/Cloud match-up, I don't think there are enough people that will actually answer the question the way you guys think they will; it doesn't mean they're drones of course.. I just think there are that many Zelda fans on the site.

I honestly thing Mario/Bowser has a way bigger chance of winning this than most people think.

Because this is more than just a tag team. A substantial amount will take the relationship of the characters into account.

0% chance Mario/Bowser beats Link/Ganondorf. It just won't happen.

I give them a miniscule chance of beating Cloud/Sephiroth, but I wouldn't expect such a match to be close beyond the Power Hour.

The format is new, so it's pretty unpredictable. I'll give Mario/Bowser a 2% chance of winning the whole thing. Let's see.......

I don't see Mario/Bowser having a chance either. That's just putting way too much faith in the relationship.

I think the biggest question this contest will obviously have is how important "relationship" will be to voters and it certainly shouldn't be based on intelligence. I think this contest will likely have a "Series" sort of feeling.

The way I see it, if <x> is your favorite character or preferred character over the other one in a poll, you'll likely like their relationship better as well.
