Board 8 > Haven't really read comic books before, want to get into The New 52...

I'm familiar with a lot of the lore, or at least superficial amounts from Wikipedia articles and different forms of comic-related media, like cartoons and movies.

What ones are worth checking out? I know I'll end up checking out Batman, but I don't know much else besides that.

Animal Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, Action Comics, Swamp Thing, Frankenstein and Batwoman are all new-reader friendly and excellent. Demon Knights is great, too, but you should be familiar with the Jack Kirby and Alan Moore runs with the characters before you dive into the new book. There's a handful of other good books so far, but I wouldn't recommend a new DC reader a bunch of just good books. Go with the best to start, then pick out the rest.

How's the new Birds of Prey?

I like the old one, but can't see it working without Babs as Oracle.

Others seemed to think it was decent, I thought it was boring. Not bad, just the least interesting Birds of Prey book I've encountered.

And Black Canary's new costume is just dreadful.

Also of note, if you go to the shop this week, the Week 3 books (see the chart below) are the least likely to be in stock, since Week 1 got reprints last week, and Week 2 gets them this week. Sales have been far higher than expected, so there have been issues with shortages.

Definitely throw Catwoman on there, very cool book. I also recommend Detective Comics, lotta people don't dig it but hey you might as well give the first issue a try, I dig it.

You're late jumping on so it might be hard at this point.

I would recommend Justice League, Detective Comics, Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Batman and Robin, Resurrection Man, Deathstroke, Demon Knights, Superboy and Batman as the best ones out so far.

This week seems to have the most number of blockbusters though. Superman, Dark Knight, Aquaman, all sorts of potential greatness.
